The second season of Reacher, which we’ve covered multiple times, has once again become a hit for Amazon. It’s no surprise that the company quickly greenlit new episodes. What was a bit surprising, however, was how swiftly they did it—Reacher was officially renewed for a third season just two weeks before the second season premiered on Prime Video.
The gamble paid off, as both fans and critics highly praised the second season after its release. Now that we know the third season of Reacher is confirmed and likely nearing completion, here’s everything you need to know—from speculations about the release date, cast, and plot to much more.

Probable release date for Reacher season 3
Season 3 of *Reacher* doesn’t have a release date yet. However, we can make an educated guess about when to expect the new episodes. The first season was filmed from April 15 to July 30, 2021, and then premiered on Prime Video on February 4, 2022. This means filming took about three and a half months, followed by six months of post-production. Considering that production for the third season has already begun, the earliest we can expect *Reacher* Season 3 to hit our screens is October 2024.
However, there’s a chance that Prime Video might wait until December 2024 for the release. This would align with the annual schedule (with Season 2 releasing in December 2023), which networks and studios often prefer for their TV shows. Given that the December release window worked well for Prime Video with the second season, it’s expected that Amazon may premiere the third season in December 2024.
However, if this latest information from Jack Reacher himself is accurate, these predictions might be too conservative. In an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Alan Ritchson, who plays the titular character Reacher, mentioned that filming for Season 3 is nearly complete. Considering that the production has only been ongoing for about three months, this is impressive if true.
However, Ritchson recently posted on Instagram about his preparation for his upcoming role in “Motor City.” In the post, he remarked, “How do you fully transform when you’ve only got a few days to go from ‘Reacher’ to your next role in the extraordinary historical action film Motor City? You bring out the big guns.” This might be a strong hint that filming for Season 3 of “Reacher” has finally wrapped up, and Ritchson is now moving on to his next project.

As announced by Variety on August 13, Paramount has decided to shut down its television studio, Paramount Television Studios (PTVS), as part of a broader corporate restructuring. Fans are understandably curious about what this means for the third season of “Reacher,” but there’s no need to worry. All upcoming and ongoing shows will be taken over by CBS Studios. While it’s possible that the release of Season 3 could be slightly delayed, future seasons are likely to be produced during the company’s restructuring process.

The cast
So far, four actors have been officially confirmed for the third season. Of course, Alan Ritchson will return as the lead character, Jack Reacher. He will be joined again by Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, one of Reacher’s former military colleagues.
However, don’t expect to see many familiar faces beyond these two. The second season features fewer actors than the first — in fact, it’s primarily Ritchson and Sten, along with Malcolm Goodwin as Captain Oscar Finlay, who will appear as a guest star.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Nick Santora mentioned that the same approach will be taken in the third season. “The DNA of Reacher is that he moves on his own and teams up with good people when there’s trouble nearby, and then says goodbye to those people and continues on his way.”
We already know about two new actors joining the show for the third season. Anthony Michael Hall will play Zachary Beck, a carpet importer who may become the primary antagonist of the season. Sonia Cassidy has also confirmed her role as the tough yet witty UBNC agent Susan Duffy, who will likely team up with Reacher at some point during the season.
Following the announcement, Amazon has revealed four more new cast members for *Reacher*. Brian Tee will play Quinn, a potential antagonist to Beck Hall. Additionally, Johnny Berchtold will portray Beck’s son, Richard. Meanwhile, Roberto Montesinos and Daniel David Stewart will take on the roles of UBNC agents Guillermo Villanueva and Steven Elliott, who will work alongside Duffy and Reacher.
On May 22, it was announced that Olivier Ritters will take on the role of Polly, a bodybuilder who is even larger than Reacher. Polly Masserella is Zachary Beck’s bodyguard, and he’s incredibly difficult to defeat in a fight. This means that Reacher will face serious competition in the third season.

Nick Santora developed the TV series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Lee Child is also an executive producer of the series, along with Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television. The series is produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance, and Paramount Television Studios. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid are the heads of the series at Skydance Television. Ritchson will be an executive producer on the show starting with Season 3.

The plot of the third season of Reacher
Alan Ritchson has already announced that Season 3 will be based on “The Persuader,” the seventh book in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series. I won’t delve into spoilers, but if you don’t want to know anything at all about the upcoming season of Reacher, you might want to close the article now.
So, there are just two things you need to know about “The Persuader” and how it will relate to Season 3. First, the plot synopsis, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s interview with Santora, is: “Reacher will go undercover to rescue an informant held by an enemy from his past.”
The second thing is that while Stan returns as Nagle in Season 3, Nagle does not actually appear in the source material. This makes her character somewhat of a departure for the third season, as the showrunners will need to deviate from the original plot.
In the meantime, I suggest checking out Alan Ritchson’s latest film, “Ordinary Angels”, which has become a hit on Max. The film, which received an A+ rating on CinemaScore and an impressive 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, quickly climbed into the Top 10 on Max’s rankings, showcasing Ritchson’s growing popularity in Hollywood. “Ordinary Angels” is a touching drama based on the true story of a determined woman who rallied her community to help a young girl desperately in need of a liver transplant. Ritchson stars alongside the talented Hilary Swank, a two-time Oscar winner, who plays the lead role of Sharon Stephens, the woman at the heart of this inspiring story.
