NVIDIA announces that the ray-tracing update for Diablo IV is finally available. The company also announced several more games with DLSS 2 scaling and/or DLSS 3 frame generation technologies. Among them are Outpost: Infinity Siege, Alone In The Dark, and Lightyear Frontier Out.
The biggest interest is likely to be Diablo IV, which seems to have a lot of potential for improved visuals. It already supported DLSS 3, but now the developers have added ray-tracing effects. This should lower frame rates while improving the game’s atmosphere, and new visual effects include ray-traced reflections and ray-traced shadows.
According to CTO Michael Bukowski, “Effects like lightning strikes are now reflected in pools of blood and water, dank basements and dungeons are more ominous with realistic soft shadows, and open worlds and cities are more grounded with additional realistic shadows and glare We are very excited that our community will be able to experience this new technology.”
According to NVIDIA benchmarks, gamers can expect a 3.1x performance boost when using DLSS scaling and frame generation together. At maximum 4K settings with RT enabled, the RTX 4090 achieves 144 FPS, the RTX 4080 Super 117 FPS, the RTX 4070 Ti Super 103 FPS, the RTX 4070 Super 91 FPS and the RTX 4070 77 FPS. Unfortunately, NVIDIA forgot to tell us how well the game performs without frame generation.
