Following Jack Dorsey’s exit from the Bluesky platform board, some features are preparing to arrive on the platform. In a recent post update via the social media firm’s blog, we learn that features such as direct messaging (DM), video sharing, feed curation tools, and new anti-harassment features are coming to the platform. All these new features will help improve the user experience on the platform, hence giving it more ground against the competition.
Ever since its launch back in 2021, this social media platform hasn’t given its users a way to text each other. Now the platform is gearing up to make the DM feature readily available for users globally. Some people liked Bluesky for not having a DM so they don’t get random messages from strangers, for these users, Bluesky will give them control over who messages them.
So if you’re among those users who don’t like getting messages from random strangers, you can turn the DM feature off on your device. Users on the Bluesky platform will also get the ability to share videos via posts or DM with other users. For more control over the Bluesky app, custom feed tools are also preparing to hit the launch stage as well.
By having access to these tools, Bluesky users will be able to control the type of posts that they get to see on the platform. Lastly, the anti-harassment feature will aim to keep users of the platform safe from online predators seeking to harm them. Parents letting their children on the Bluesky platform will appreciate these last two features very much.
There’s currently no clear timeline as to the official launch of these new features on the platform. However, Bluesky is pointing out that these features are preparing to make their way to the platform. Once available, users of the Bluesky platform will get these features on their apps via an OTA upgrade.
