Following Jack Dorseyβs exit from the Bluesky platform board, some features are preparing to arrive on the platform. In a recent post update via theΒ social media firm’s blog, we learn that features such as direct messaging (DM), video sharing, feed curation tools, and new anti-harassment features are coming to the platform. All these new features will help improve the user experience on the platform, hence giving it more ground against the competition.
Ever since its launch backΒ in 2021, this social media platform hasnβt given its users a way to text each other.Β NowΒ theΒ platform is gearing up to make the DM feature readily available for users globally. Some people liked Bluesky for not having a DMΒ soΒ they donβt get random messages from strangers, forΒ these users, Bluesky will give them control over who messages them.

SoΒ ifΒ youβre among those users who donβt like getting messages from random strangers, you can turn the DM feature off on your device. Users on theΒ Bluesky platformΒ will alsoΒ get the abilityΒ to share videos via posts or DM with other users. For more control over the Bluesky app, custom feed tools are also preparing to hit the launch stageΒ as well.
By having access to these tools, Bluesky users will be able to control the type of postsΒ that they get toΒ see on the platform. Lastly, the anti-harassment feature will aim to keep users of the platform safe from online predators seeking to harm them.Β Parents letting their children on the Bluesky platform will appreciate these last two featuresΒ very much.
Thereβs currently no clear timelineΒ as toΒ the official launch of these new features on the platform. However, BlueskyΒ is pointingΒ out that these features are preparing to make their way to the platform. Once available, users of the Bluesky platform will get these features on their apps via an OTA upgrade.
