USAID and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine will host the first-ever Diia in DC summit in Washington, D.C., today to present the achievements of digital Ukraine, as well as thoughts and plans for further development in this area. The event will begin at 17:00 Kyiv time and will be streamed live on the official Diia YouTube channel and USAID’s channel.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development and Minister of Digital Transformation, will share how Ukrainians use Diia every day, fight corruption and bureaucracy, and change the country for the better through digitalisation.
The Diia in DC event is organised in cooperation between USAID and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and supported by the Eurasia Foundation, UKAid, Visa, and Google.org Employment Opportunities and Diia.Digital Education Programme. Among the speakers are USAID Administrator Samantha Power, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova, New York Magazine Editor-in-Chief Kara Swisher, and others.
Diia is a pioneering mobile application that unites 19 million Ukrainians and offers more than 120 government services and dozens of digital documents. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the app has been used as an important platform to support Ukrainians who have been forced to flee their cities.
According to USAID’s website, Diia, which was created in partnership with the United States, is now ready to be rolled out to other countries around the world, so this summit will provide an exclusive opportunity to see and hear how this tool is helping to transform the way people communicate with government.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, with the support of Google.org and the Eastern Europe Foundation, has recently launched the national platform Diia.Osvita, which offers free access to useful up-to-date knowledge, new skills and employment.
