Back in 2016, Messenger end-to-end encryption rolled out to users but could be turned off at the user’s will. However, the platform is now launching end-to-end encryption as a standard feature (no longer a default feature) for users of its services. This will help ensure that all users of the Facebook or Messenger platform are safe at all times when engaging in conversations with others on the platform.
Following this are other new features as well as some redesigns to improve the user experience on the platform. Both security and user experience-enhancing features will roll out to the consumers via an OTA app update. According to Messenger via their news channel, this improvement has been years in the works, so users need to get an idea of what’s coming their way.
By making end-to-end encryption default on Messenger, users can be sure of more secure chats. All chats, media, and so on shared between users while chatting stay private and away from any prying eyes. This assures users of privacy and also adds an extra layer of security to their conversations on the Messenger or Facebook platform.
The new features users will benefit from all aim to step up their control over chats and media they share with others. Part of the new features are an edit option, disappearing messages, read receipts control, HD media sharing, voice messaging speed-up, and secure storage. All these features will give users more privacy over their chats, as well as the ability to send and receive high-quality images.
Messenger launched these features yesterday and took to their official news page to share information on this. After the launch, these features and security improvements began rolling out to users. The roll-out process is gradual, so if you’re yet to get these new features on your app don’t freak out, it’ll get to you via an update in the coming days.
