After two seasons, Netflix decided to close the comedy series Space Force about the decision of the Trump administration to create an eponymous structure in 2018.
The decision to close the series was made a few weeks after the release of season 2 on the screens. Even the star-led cast didn’t help Space Force: the series starred Steve Carell as the main protagonist – 4-star general Mark R. Naird, alongside John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang and Lisa Kudrow in supporting roles.
The main reason for the closure is trivial – the series could not attract enough viewers to justify the production budget. Despite this, many viewers liked the series and some of them are even ready to unsubscribe from Netflix after the show closes.
And a few days before the closure of Space Force, the company fired a significant number of screenwriters and editors who were hired to run the Tudum fan site. On April 19, Netflix announced that it had lost about 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, the first such loss in a decade.
