Last month, Nubia’s latest gaming smartphones RedMagic 8 Pro and RedMagic 8 Pro Plus appeared in China, but now the company is preparing to release the Pro version to the global market. The device will be available for purchase starting February 2 at a starting price of $650.
At this price, the RedMagic 8 Pro can take the title of the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship of the year, making it an excellent choice for budget-conscious buyers who want a powerful smartphone. It features a square design with a bezel-less display and a matte black back panel with gamer graphics on the cheaper Matte variant and a clear glass panel like the Nothing Phone (1) on the premium Void variant.
Despite the affordable price, RedMagic 8 Pro has a solid “stuffing”. It has a 6.8-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display that has no notch as the phone sports a 16-megapixel selfie camera under the display. In addition to it, the RedMagic 8 Pro offers a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 main camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
Inside the smartphone is the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with LPDDR5X RAM of up to 16 GB and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 flash memory, as well as a massive 6000 mAh battery with support for 65 W wired fast charging. The device is also equipped with a 20,000 rpm fan and an updated cooling system that ensures optimal performance during long gaming sessions.
For gamers, Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro offers special side buttons with customizable vibrations, clicks and sound effects. The phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and triple microphones to help you communicate effectively with your teammates to ensure victory.
Other features include supporting of Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and heart rate detection using an in-display fingerprint scanner. RedMagic 8 Pro will ship with Android 13 out of the box.
The new smartphone will be available in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, Latin America, the Middle East and some Asian countries. As mentioned earlier, it will be available in two variants – Matte and Void. The affordable Matte variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory will cost $650 in the US, while the premium Void variant with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of flash memory will cost $799.
