A few months ago, the Polestar Phone hit the headlines as a collaboration between the EV brand and the Meizu smartphone company. Now, this device has been spotted by some tipsters on the Google Play list of supported devices. It sits under Meizu as its retail branding points out the fact that Meizu will retail this device once it launches.
From this reveal, it is clear that the coming device is going to support Google Play, unlike a few other devices from its maker. This is impressive, as having Google services is going to be very important for this coming smartphone that’ll target owners of Polestar vehicles. Already, Polestar (part of Volvo) relies heavily on Google services for their vehicle smart system, so having access to Google Play on their coming smartphone is a must.
This device will launch running Android, but as revealed a few months ago, it’ll also come with its software. The Polestar OS will be in use on this device, as it’ll bring a better connection experience between its users and their Polestar vehicles. Other details on this coming smartphone are still out wide, but we already have a clear idea of what it’ll look like.
Our sources expect this coming device to launch with the Snapdragon 8 process, making it a flagship-level Android device. We can also expect adequate RAM as well as storage capacity, but the main angle of focus for this device will be its software. Seeing the Polestar Phone on the Google Play list of supported devices is a good sign to show that its launch is around the corner.
At launch, this device might stay exclusive to the Chinese market for a while. Information on the other regions (aside from China) that might access this coming device is not yet available. However, once the Polestar Phone launches, its main competition will be the Nio Phone which made its debut a few months ago.
