Samsung has made great strides in adding artificial intelligence features to the Samsung Galaxy S24 phones. We recently wrote that at least some of the functions of Galaxy AI will appear in other Samsung devices – the flagships of previous generations, the latest generation of foldable smartphones and Galaxy Tab tablets. But now it has become known that the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro will get a couple of Galaxy AI features.
It is reported that the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Galaxy Buds2, as well as the Galaxy Buds FE (you can find a review of this model on our website at the link) will receive some of the key features of Galaxy AI thanks to the update that is already rolling out. In particular, these features include Live Translation and Interpretation, so you can use wireless headphones to support a foreign language conversation in real-time. It seems that the Babylonian “translator fish” mentioned in the pages of Douglas Adams’ Guide to the Galaxy series of novels is becoming a little more real.
But there is a caveat – you will still need a Galaxy S24 phone to use these functions. At least for now, because as early as next month they may appear on older devices of the Galaxy S family. Samsung also claims that these functions do not require an Internet connection.
Also yesterday, insiders reported that Google plans to add features of its Gemini AI model to headphones that work with Google Assistant – for example, Google Pixel Buds Pro or Sony WF-1000XM5 headphones. With Samsung’s AI features already appearing in compatible Galaxy Buds headphones, the South Korean tech giant has overtaken Google in bringing AI to people’s ears. Although Google is unlikely to be far behind given the pace at which it is releasing new AI products.
Next-generation artificial intelligence will take centre stage in smartphones and all other gadgets in the coming years. Apple is currently lagging in this regard, but iOS 18 is expected to change that.
