Ubisoft announced a new game in the Prince of Persia series

Prince of Persia fans are celebrating this year. Just a few months ago, a new part of the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown series with Metroidvania elements was released, but Ubisoft announced another game in the franchise. The Rogue Prince of Persia will be a joint project with Evil Empire, who had a hand in the cult Metroidvania Dead Cells. The new game will appear in Steam Early Access on May 14.

Like Dead Cells, it is a side-scroller in the roguelite genre with graphics reminiscent of the well-known and highly addictive action platform. You play, of course, as the Prince of Persia, who has been equipped with a mystical device that allows him to resurrect after death. So it’s best to do your best and buy upgrades. Players will have access to the iconic wall run and associated acrobatic skills to help manoeuvre through procedurally generated levels. Of course, the game is filled with a variety of colourful images and objects, each of which is inspired by Persian architecture.

There are also many weapons to choose from to suit different play styles. These include double daggers, spears, swords, axes, and more. In addition, players can equip secondary weapons such as bows and grappling hooks, making each campaign unique. Ubisoft says the game will receive numerous updates after feedback from players who try it out in Early Access. The updates promise “new levels, bosses, weapons, enemies, and upgrades.”

The title of the game was presented at the Triple-i Initiative event, a thematic exhibition of indie games. Evil Empire is very much an indie developer, although you can’t say that about Ubisoft. At the same event, the upcoming update of the Palworld game – the “Arena” mode – was presented.

Since Palworld was born, it has already been described as “Pokémon with weapons”, and the new mode will not help to get rid of these comparisons. In Palworld Arena, you will be able to fight with other players with the help of “friends” you have caught, they are pals. Pocketpair claims that you can train your strongest characters to defeat your opponents. A short teaser of “Arena” was shown at the exhibition.

So far, it seems that the main difference between this game and Pokemon battles is that instead of standing back and delegating everything to your “friends”, your character will also be in the thick of the action and try to destroy enemies with a variety of weapons.
