The vivo company replenished its range of devices with several different items at once – the manufacturer presented the long-awaited folding smartphone X Fold3, tablet vivo Pad3 Pro, as well as new headphones of the TWS 4 series.

vivo X Fold3 weighs only 219g. This is lighter than, for example, the iPhone 15 Pro Max (221g), the Galaxy S24 Ultra (232g) and most foldable phones like the Galaxy Fold5 (253g). Its predecessor was quite massive at 279g and 12.9mm when folded, while the X Fold3 is up to 10.2mm thick.

vivo X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro have the same set of displays. The internal panel with a diagonal of 8.03″ has a resolution of 2480×2200, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and 4500 nits of local peak brightness. The external display has a diagonal of 6.53″, a resolution of 1172×2748, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 4500 nits.

The vivo X Fold3 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with Vivo’s own V3 imaging chip and is available in two configurations: 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB. On the back panel, there is a 50-megapixel main camera with an OmniVision OV50H sensor and OIS support, a 64-megapixel telephoto lens OV64B with 3x zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an angle of 119°. There are 32-megapixel cameras for selfies and video calls.

The base X Fold3 uses the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as the X Fold2 and comes in 12GB + 256GB to 16GB + 1TB configurations, but this model lacks the V3 imaging chip. It packs a 50-megapixel 1/1.49-inch Sony IMX920 sensor, a 50-megapixel portrait camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Selfie cameras have the same resolution of 32 MP.

Both X Fold3 models are equipped with a lightweight carbon fibre hinge that can withstand 500,000 bends. vivo has also increased the resistance of phones to drops – the front panel is 11 times more resistant, and the back panel is 15 times more resistant. But the Pro model has IPX8 water resistance, while the basic model is IPX4. The X Fold2 doesn’t have an IP rating at all, so it’s an upgrade either way.

The Pro model has a 5700mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The base model has a slightly smaller 5,500mAh battery and only supports 80W wired charging. Both phones support 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, have stereo speakers and offer wireless Hi-Fi lossless audio. The Pro model also features two 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, while the base version uses a side-mounted reader.

The vivo X Fold3 price starts at $970 for the 12GB + 256GB model. Smartphones are available in black (Eclipse Black) and white (Solar White) colours. The price of the X Fold3 Pro starts at $1,385 for the 16GB + 512GB version. Availability on the global market is not yet known.

It’s the first Android tablet with MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9300 chipset, and it packs up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. A graphite radiator and a copper cooling matrix are responsible for cooling.

The Pad3 Pro also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Battery life on a single charge is up to 11 hours, and with a case, the indicator increases to 45 hours.
