A few days ago, Microsoft released the next build of Windows 11 – 22000.706 for the Release Preview channel of the Windows Insider Program. As always, the channel is reserved for cumulative updates, which should eventually be published. Non-insiders will see this as an optional update in a week or two, and then the included fixes will eventually be added to Patch Tuesday’s update next month.
However, there are some new features. Windows spotlight transfers the image from the lock screen to the desktop. Everything is very simple. Your desktop wallpaper can cycle through daily images, as it already did on the lock screen. The family security check procedure for your child’s account has also been improved when they require more screen time. Apart from it, KB 5014019 contains a lot of fixes.
Again, this update is for the Release Preview channel of the Windows Insider Program only. The beta channel has already started testing the features of Windows 11 version 22H2, which should appear this fall. These users will soon start receiving new cumulative updates, but these are not the same updates as in the Release Preview channel.
The Release Preview channel will switch to 22H2 just a few weeks before everyone else. This means that if you use this channel, you will be running Windows 11 version 21H2 until September or October. As mentioned above, the update should be available to non-insiders in a week or two.
