In a bid to keep offering exclusive features for premium subscribers, YouTube is launching the Playables section. This is a section on the homepage of YouTube’s app that gives users access to games. Well, not all users will get access to this section as it is exclusive to premium subscribers.
Some YouTube Premium subscribers have already started noticing this new feature on the app. It’s accessible not only via the mobile app but also via the desktop platform as well. So, regardless of where users access their YouTube account as premium users, they’ll have access to the Playables section.
There are a ton of games that users can try out from this new section of the app. YouTube is also announcing this new feature to premium users via notifications, prompting them to activate it from the settings page. Once activated, the new YouTube Playable section will be accessible via the platform’s homepage.
Once in, premium users will be able to find and play games from various categories. All games they play and then leave halfway will be at the top of the game section list under the “Continue Playing” section. On the Playables interface, there are two pages that YouTube premium users can cycle between, one being “Home” and the other being “Browse.”
The Home page gives users the “Continue Playing” and “Popular” sections. The Browse page gives users the ability to check all games that are available on the platform. This new YouTube gaming feature is quite similar to the Netflix Games feature that was rolled out to users a few months ago.
YouTube might not keep this gaming feature for so long, as it plans to retire it on March 28, 2024. Well, its performance among YouTube Premium users will determine whether the platform will retain it or not. Do you think that the new YouTube Playables feature will attract more users to become Premium subscribers?
