Today I have the Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 ─ a top-of-the-line electric scooter from Acer for review. Acer doesn’t have many models of electric scooters, Acer ES Series 3 and Acer ES Series 5. ES Series 5 ─ the advanced model, as I think you’ve already guessed from the name. Looking ahead, I like the scooter, so much so that after looking at it, I ordered one just like it. Positioning and price
Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 is positioned as an urban electric scooter for adults or teenagers. Its main purpose is to ride on flat roads: asphalt, pavement, paving stones. Of course, AES015 can also cope with off-road or killed road, but there is little pleasure from such a ride, and the scooter itself is a pity.
The price of Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 on average is about $800. Given the price and characteristics, AES015 can not be attributed to the premium segment, as well as can not be said that it is a budget model. I would refer AES015 to the middle class.
Speaking of prices, at the time of writing the review on Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 there were very favourable discounts, the price was only 1$540. Actually, this is one of the reasons why I did not hesitate to order this scooter for myself.
Complete set
Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 comes in a large cardboard box measuring 122×60×20 cm. The box is quite bulky and heavy, the approximate weight is about 20+kg. By the way, I have a small complaint about the box: where are the side openings to make the box comfortable to carry? There just aren’t any. This may cause difficulties when you drag the box to your home.
We open the box and we see:
- electric scooter
- charger
- documentation
- 4 handlebar bolts
- 6-point spanner
In the box the scooter is in folded form, securely fixed in the transport foam. Nothing dangles, does not ride, for this plus. Despite the weight and size of the vehicle, I had no problems with its unpacking. It is possible to get and assemble the scooter alone without help. The assembly process itself is very quick and easy, but there is a peculiarity that I would like to warn you about.
Process and features of cleaning and collection
The first thing to do is to carefully lift the rudder, it is folded in the box, the rudder itself is removed from the frame. Lift the handlebar frame and fix it in vertical position with a special latch on the frame.
Right away I want to draw your attention to the wires, here I have a second small complaint to the manufacturer: couldn’t they have chosen thicker wires for the internal electronics? These look very flimsy. There is plenty of space in the handlebar frame, even thick wires can be packed there without any problems.
Well, it’s not a problem for us, we just need to pack them carefully into the frame and fix the handlebars once, we won’t touch them again. So, we pack the wires into the handlebar frame, put on the handlebar itself and fix it on the 4 bolts included in the kit.
Once the handlebars have been fixed, you can take the scooter out of the box. You only need to remove the transport foam from the wheels and you can ride.
Design, ergonomics, materials
The design of the Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 looks cool to me. Strict matte black colour, complemented by original racing-style inserts in white and green.
Steering wheel
The handlebar features: quality anatomically shaped handlebars, bell, brake handle, turn shifter, LED display with power button and torch, start handle and locking hook.
The handles ─ comfortable, the shape and material provide a good grip. They are moderately soft, so your hands do not get tired or sore during long rides, even on uneven roads.
The bell is just an ordinary bell, you pull the hook, it hits the body and the bell rings. It’s not very loud, but it can warn pedestrians who stray into the cycle lane and impudently get out of the way.
Brake handle – located on the left side of the handlebar. It was a bit unusual for me at first, but that’s because I’m used to a different brake position on my bike, front left, rear right. After a few hours you get used to it and there are no problems. The brake works well and I had no problems with it during the whole test.
The cornering switch is a useful thing when driving in traffic or on a road with cars. It also works without any problems. It is switched by toggle switch: left, right, centre – off.
LED display with power button and torch ─ The button switches the scooter on and off, you need to hold it down for 3-5 seconds to activate it. The button also switches speed modes and activates additional functions such as lights. The display shows information about the current status of the scooter. In the sun the display does not glare, everything is more or less well visible. In general, the “LED display + button” control is so convenient that I almost did not use the proprietary application. You can slightly pick on the torch – in complete darkness its brightness is not enough. The torch will not be able to illuminate your way in the dark, but it is quite enough to make a vehicle moving towards you notice you.
Start handle ─ everything is very simple, you press it and the scooter goes. Comfortable, moderately soft. I rode at the 3rd maximum speed all the time, and when I needed to slow down and go slowly, I just kept the start button slightly depressed. For me it was quite enough to get up to speed quickly when needed, and drive slowly when manoeuvring between people or other traffic.
Hook-lock – no, it is not for hanging shopping bags from ATB on it, although in theory you can. It’s a locking device that locks into the groove on the fender when the scooter is folded.
In general, the ergonomics of the steering wheel is great, everything is conveniently and thoughtfully arranged. The length for one person is more than enough. It is a little inconvenient if you ride the scooter with two people, your passenger will simply have nothing to hold on to.

Rudder frame
The handlebar frame is thick and high. It is not height adjustable. On the front side there is a racing stripes pattern. Below, almost at the very base, there is a special latch that holds the handlebar frame. To fold the scooter, you need to press the latch from above and pull a little away from the handlebars. The frame will be released and it can be lowered by fixing it to the rear fender of the scooter. To be honest, at first this design and fixing did not inspire confidence in me. But with time I realised that everything is fixed and held securely, so you should not worry. At the same time, this design allows you to fold and unfold the scooter in a few seconds.
Scooter Deck
The deck of the AES015 is long and wide, measuring 64.0×16.5 cm. The top is lined with a quality rubber base with Acer’s signature logo. The grip on your shoes is excellent. For one person, the deck is very spacious, you can put both feet on it in any comfortable position and still have room. For two people, the AES015 deck is also very comfortable, but not as spacious. For comparison purposes, I took some photos of the Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 with the Bolt and Jet shairing scooters. You can see how much smaller the decks are, and in general, the shairing scooters are. If people manage to ride them with two people, imagine how comfortable the AES015 is.
On the left side of the AES015 deck is a handy footrest, a drawing and a charging socket. On the right side there is only a drawing and nothing else of interest.
Wheels
AES015 has 10-inch wheels. The tyres are polyurethane. Apparently, the tyres are solid, without tubes. On the one hand, this is a big plus, we are not afraid of punctures in principle. On the other hand, the tyres lack a bit of softness. Do you remember the feeling of riding a bike when you over-inflate your tyres? That’s the feeling I had sometimes while riding the AES015. Good thing the rear suspension design features mitigate this. Our AES015 is front wheel drive, so on the front wheel the disc is closed, with the motor inside. The rear wheel has an open disc and a disc brake system. There are reflectors on both wheels, the front ones are unlit, the rear ones are lit and act as turn signals. Both wheels have fenders made of very durable plastic. The rear fender has a lock for the folded handlebars. The rear fender still has a red reflector that turns on and glows. Another feature of the wheels, purely aesthetic, on the discs there are green inserts, as for me, looks very cool.
Scooter frame
Rudder frame, front fork and deck connection ─ that’s the whole frame in the AES015. The basic material ─ aluminium. Externally, everything has a quality and reliable appearance. There is one single seam where the rudder frame and deck join. The seam is also of high quality and, more or less, neat.
Amortisation
Unfortunately, there are no shock absorbers, per se, in the AES015. The rear suspension design does act as a shock absorber to some extent, but it’s not a full-fledged shock absorber. At the front, it’s just a regular fork and that’s it. On the one hand, shock absorbers are not really needed here, because the scooter is initially positioned as a city scooter ─ for quiet riding around the city on a flat surface. But on the other hand, I would like AES015 to have at least simple shock absorbers, especially considering its price. The lack of shock absorbers is what makes it impossible to call Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 an ideal electric scooter.
Folding the scooter
A very convenient and useful feature of AES015 ─ the ability to fold it. The scooter can be folded and unfolded in a few seconds. On the frame of the handlebar there is a special fixator, you press on it from above and pull away from the handlebar, the handlebar is released. The released handlebar is fixed in the groove on the rear fender. That’s it – now you can carry the scooter or put it at home so that it doesn’t take up a lot of space.
To summarise, the design ─ excellent, strict, and at the same time, stylish. The assembly is of high quality, the materials, thoughtfulness of design and execution are top-notch. Ergonomics ─ is fine, everything is well thought out and conveniently located, nothing causes discomfort.

Features of Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015
In this part of the review I propose to consider parameters such as: range, motor power, speed and speed modes, drive, ground clearance, braking system and maximum load on Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015.
Power reserve
For those who don’t know, the range is how far the scooter can travel on a single charge. The AES015 has a good range ─ 60 kilometres. That’s enough to ride it to work, school or continuously ride on a flat surface for 8 hours without recharging.
An example from personal experience. My wife and I rode the AES015 for about 6 hours. Almost all 6 hours the scooter was in motion, at a maximum or near-maximum speed of 20-25 km/h. During this time we travelled a distance of about 40-50 km on different types of roads: flat asphalt, pavement, bumpy bumpy road. During this time, the scooter’s charge decreased from 100 to 20 per cent.
Motor power
The AES015 has a 350W electric motor. Yes, this may not seem enough, because there are scooter models with more power at a similar or even slightly lower price. But I should note that even at 350 watts AES015 picks up speed quickly and holds it well throughout the journey. Difficulties may arise only when driving uphill. But again, from personal experience and tests: on a small not steep hill AES015 pulled two of us without problems. With one passenger AES015 can cope even easier. But steep slides with an angle of 30° and above the scooter most likely will not be able to cope.
Speed and speed modes
The maximum speed of the AES015 is 25 km/h. There are 3 speed modes:
- first 0-6 km/h
- second 0-10 km/h
- third 0-25 km/h
First 0-6 km/h – the scooter barely accelerates and goes very slowly. At the same time the rear reflectors start flashing. Honestly, I don’t know what this speed is intended for, perhaps for slow traffic jams with cars on the main road. I have never used it in practice.
The second 0-10 km/h – the same as the first mode, only accelerates a little faster and the speed limit is higher. And the rear reflectors don’t flash. It’s a sort of average calm speed. I don’t think that’s a very useful mode either. If the limit was 15-18 kilometres an hour, then it would be different.
Third 0-25 km/h – maximum speed. In this mode, the scooter accelerates quickly, gains and maintains a maximum speed of 25 km/h. I rode only in this mode. As to me, the most comfortable and the most practical. When you need to reduce speed and manoeuvre between traffic and people – just keep the start handle slightly pressed. When you need to sharply increase speed or drive forward, you push the handle all the way down.
In the third speed mode, the scooter accelerates very briskly and maintains its top speed, even when two passengers are riding at the same time. When you just need to slow down a bit, you don’t have to press the brake, you can just release the start handle a little – the scooter quickly reduces speed. In general, in terms of steering AES015 everything is excellent.
Drive
AES015 is a front-wheel drive scooter. That’s why most of the weight is on the front part, because it has a powerful handlebar and frame, as well as a motor. By the way, do you want to know how to ride AES015 up a steep hill? Tilt your torso backwards, thus reducing the load on the front part, and the scooter goes up without any problems.
Clearance
Clearance (ground clearance) ─ The distance from the road to the lowest point of the scooter’s body. Clearance shows how high an obstacle the scooter can pass underneath without clinging to it. High ground clearance improves cross-country ability, but requires high wheels and a powerful motor. The AES015 has a clearance of 11 cm. Our scooter overcomes small bumps, irregularities and protrusions without problems, except that it will shake a little. But full-fledged kerbs you will have to either bypass or pull the scooter on it manually.
Brake system
The AES015 has front electronic brakes and rear disc brakes. I can’t say exactly what braking distance the scooter has. But according to my own observations, the braking system works well at maximum speed. And if you combine the throttle and handbrake, you will have no problems at all, even in the most unpredictable situations. Once again, the scooter is very obedient in this respect. By the way, for fans of sharp brakes with skids – on AES015 you can do it without any problems. That is, if you need to brake very sharply, AES015 can do it. I prefer calm and measured driving, so I was not into such tricks.
Maximum load
The maximum recommended weight for the Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 is 100kg. I have already mentioned several times in the review that my wife and I rode it together. Together our weight does not exceed the permissible norms, so, we can afford it. By the way, there is one unclear point with the maximum weight. On the official website of Acer and in the official specification it is stated maximum 100kg. In shops that are official sellers of this model, which are linked from the official Acer website, it is indicated 120kg. So how much is the real 100 or 120? For me it doesn’t matter, it suits me both ways, but for someone this parameter can play a key role. And the difference of 20kg is not small.
Controllability
The handling of the Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 is excellent. I have ridden it both on empty wide roads and narrow roads with heavy traffic (pedestrians, other vehicles). I have ridden it alone and with my wife. And never once have I had a problem with the handling or responsiveness of the AES015. Good braking system brakes when I need to and how I need to. When I just need to slow down, the AES015 obediently does so. The steering wheel and steering angle allow me to take even the most difficult and tight turns without any problems. Overall, the handling of the AES015 is, I would say, perfect.
Acer Electric Scooter Series 5 App
To manage and track information about the AES015, Acer has made a pretty good app for iOS and Android – Acer Electric Scooter Series 5. When you switch on the scooter for the first time, you’ll see a blinking Bluetooth icon on the display. Put the app on your smartphone, press “Select your device” and connect. By the way, the scooter finds and connects without problems and from the first time.
In fact, the application consists of a single screen with all the main settings and information. Let’s take a closer look.
From the information we have here:
- remaining charge
- current speed
- distance travelled per session (since connection)
- total distance travelled
From settings and options:
- electronic lock – locks the scooter
- front light
- speed modes
- rear side light
- cruise control – a feature that allows the scooter to drive itself at the speed you choose
There is also a menu with global settings:
- speed measurement units (kilometres or miles)
- automatic switching off in case of inactivity
- application language
- search alarm – if you forget where you left your scooter, you switch it on and it will beep.
That’s the whole app. It’s small, but it’s handy and functional, and that’s the main thing. To be honest, I didn’t use it much, I just didn’t need to. But during the time I used it, there were no problems.

Battery life
The Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 has a 15000 mAh lithium-ion battery. It is charged with a conventional 42V/2.0A power supply. A full charge to 100% takes up to about 8 hours.
As for run time, I never managed to fully drain it once. My maximum time out was somewhere around 6 hours. In those 6 hours, I was able to drain the battery from about 100 to 20 per cent. I think 8 hours or even a little more on the AES015 can be raced with no problem. That’s with two people, at top speed, in almost constant motion. That sounds good to me.
Conclusions
To summarise, I can say that Acer Electrical Scooter 5 AES015 is a good city electric scooter in the middle price segment. For complete perfection it lacks some, at least simple, shock absorbers. Well and speed, sometimes it was a pity that the maximum is not 30 km / h, a little lacking. Otherwise a cool scooter. My wife and I liked it and we, not thinking long, ordered the same one. Especially at the time of writing the review it was favourable discounts.
