Reviewing gaming furniture is much easier when it leans more toward “gaming” than just “furniture.” For example, I can play a full match of Call of Duty in something like the Cougar Speeder One and evaluate its comfort and build quality in a setting that feels natural. The Cougar Fidom, however, is uncharted territory.
It’s a space that’s harder for me to grasp because the Fidom—technically a recliner, though it feels more like a sofa—is designed for casual gamers and console enthusiasts. In other words, I usually turn to a gaming chair to stay engaged and take my mind off work, while this one is built for the exact opposite: pure relaxation.

Market position, price
The Cougar Fidom is priced at around $385, putting it in the same range as gaming chairs like the Cougar Hotrod Royal or Speeder One. Of course, these products cater to different audiences, but this should give you a general idea of the cost. The recliner is available in two color options—gray and black—both featuring orange accents.
The chair arrived fully assembled, so I can’t comment on the ease of transportation or the assembly process. According to the manual, setup is fairly simple—just attach the backrest, and it’s ready to use.
Specifications and purpose
That doesn’t mean the chair is compact or lightweight. It weighs nearly 40 kg, measures almost a meter in length, and is 75 cm wide. It didn’t fit through my doorway in an upright position, so I had to tilt it and slide it through sideways. Overall, it’s larger than any gaming chair I’ve used, which is why I keep wanting to call it a sofa.
So, what exactly is a recliner? It’s a chair that can tilt backward, and the Cougar Fidom offers three reclining angles—95, 135, and 160 degrees. But that’s not all. It also features a system called Trimotion, which adds extra flexibility. This means the “sofa” can not only recline but also rock and even rotate. The base supports full 360-degree rotation and can handle up to 150 kg of weight.
At this point, the Fidom feels more like furniture than gaming gear. The comfort level is exceptional. The upholstery is made of polyester fiber designed to resemble faux linen, with a relatively soft filling. It feels better than many so-called “professional” furniture pieces. Given its price—higher than many standard sofas and recliners—the build quality is unsurprisingly solid.
Additionally, the Fidom comes with a well-made lumbar pillow for extra support. When fully reclined, the chair provides eight points of contact for the body, supporting everything from the head and arms to the calves and feet.
In other words, the Fidom fully conforms to the shape of your body. And yes, it’s likely more comfortable for sleeping than a bed—definitely much more comfortable.
Assignment
What makes the Cougar Fidom “gaming” furniture? Essentially, it’s the side pockets for storing a smartphone or tablet. You can stash something like a Legion Go, a smartphone gamepad, or a console controller there. This means your gaming accessories are always within easy reach.
Overall, I can easily imagine someone sinking into this chair, turning on their PlayStation 5, and launching something like Ghost of Tsushima, then zoning out for an hour and a half. It would be comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable. I can’t personally test this, though—mainly because I don’t own a console, and when I sit in this chair, I just fall asleep. And that’s probably one of the key advantages of the Cougar Fidom.
Conclusions
In a time when everything around us feels increasingly chaotic, things that can help you relax and add comfort are truly invaluable. This chair—whether you call it a sofa or a recliner—will be especially appreciated by gamers, but it’s also perfect for general home use. So, I highly recommend the Cougar Fidom. Not for everyone, though, as the price is on the higher side. But if it fits your needs, it’s worth considering.
