It seems we’ve crossed the Rubicon. Before, all gaming chairs looked pretty much the same, differing only in materials and colors. But after that, variety started to emerge. I’m not complaining—it’s actually great. I just want to point out that it’s worth keeping an eye on new releases more often. Like the Cougar Speeder, for instance.

Market position
The price of this model isn’t budget-friendly—$400 or €390 as of the last check. There’s also the Cougar Speeder One, which is $24 cheaper, and we might discuss it next time.
Also, I want to mention upfront that the chair does have some drawbacks, but fortunately, they aren’t directly related to the chair itself, so I’ll cover them at the end.
Assembly
The assembly is relatively traditional and classic. There’s an instruction manual in the box, but don’t trust the brochure with the QR code. In my case, for example, it was inside the packaging of the chair’s backrest—so it should be in the box, just not always in the most obvious places.
Also, and this is particularly important to me—I’m really, really impressed with Cougar for making ALL the screws in the Cougar Speeder kit compatible with the SAME standard.
The screws are of different sizes, but they ALL can be screwed in with the same bit, T30 or T30H. A screwdriver might not fit everywhere, but that’s not a dealbreaker. Unification is VERY important.
I also appreciate that the set includes one spare screw for each size. The instruction manual is exceptionally detailed, simple, and step-by-step. There’s an unusual absence of a plastic sleeve on the gas lift, but for this particular model, it’s forgivable because your legs will be focused on other things entirely. But more on that later.
Technical characteristics
Next, the dimensions and weight. It weighs 23.65 kg, with a height of up to 1320 mm and a width of around 700 mm. These measurements matter because, as you can see, this is no ordinary chair.
Instead of eco-leather or fabric, this chair features mesh. And if you’re asking, “Why does mesh cost more than eco-leather or fabric?” it’s because not all meshes are created equal. In this case, it’s made from soft Chenille Yarn microfiber, which adds a unique texture and feel.
And this isn’t just a marketing gimmick with questionable benefits.
You can purchase Chenille Yarn on your own; it’s well-known, popular, and proven. It ensures that during “sweaty sessions” in the summer, your back won’t get sweaty like it would on faux leather or fabric.
As for the reliability of the mesh, I’ll say this: it’s certified by TÜV Rheinland and meets the American BIFMA standards. The latter are crucial for professional office furniture, including chairs, so the Cougar Speeder will at least be on par with those.
Plus, the ergonomics here are genuinely designed with anatomy in mind, with everything shaped to fit the natural contours of the body. Yes, there are no cushions included. At least, not visually. For example, there’s lumbar support, it’s just located under the mesh.
There’s also head support, of course. The height of the Cougar Speeder can be adjusted by 100 mm, and it features a class 4 gas lift. Additionally, you can adjust the backrest height, the seat depth, and the curvature of the head support.
That’s why I mentioned that the chair’s height isn’t exactly 1320 mm, but up to 1320 mm. The minimum height can be as low as 1100 mm. This means you can adjust the chair’s position quite noticeably, which is a great feature.

The armrests are advanced even by gaming chair standards. They feature 3D Hyperrotation technology, allowing them to rotate back 180 degrees and adjust the tilt angle.
This is important because the Cougar Speeder also includes a footrest and the ability to tilt the chair back to 115 or even 135 degrees. While I wouldn’t recommend sleeping in such a position, it’s perfect for a quick rest after a long work or gaming session, or for watching a movie.
The weight capacity of the chair is 120 kg maximum, and it features five 75 mm wheels with vinyl coating and solid hinges. Overall, the chair feels very stable and secure. In fact, the metal base is not only at the bottom but also extends to the backrest, adding to its sturdiness.
Drawback
Now, as promised, the drawbacks. There’s really just one, and it’s the packaging of the chair. However, it’s not because the components can get damaged – they are actually packed impeccably.
No, the actual box is unique. It’s too large in terms of dimensions – wide and tall – making it difficult to comfortably carry from the bottom or around. And, of course, there are no handles or openings on the box.
I found only one way to carry the box by myself – you have to grab the nearest corner with one hand and the opposite corner with the other. Essentially, you hold the left top corner and the lower right one from the opposite side. As I mentioned, this issue doesn’t affect the chair itself, and if you ask the store to assemble the Speeder for you, you won’t even see the box.
That’s why I won’t deduct any points for this. Besides, the instruction manual even mentions that assembling the chair should be done by two people, so it’s obvious that transporting the box requires the same. Although I assembled the chair on my own without major problems – as long as you use the box as a stand. But yes, I definitely recommend carrying and assembling it with two people.
Conclusions
The more the gaming chair industry evolves, the more unique models like the Cougar Speeder emerge. Advanced, interesting, original, and beneficial for both health and nerves.
The Cougar Speeder is an outstanding chair in terms of ergonomics, durability, and versatility. It’s ABSOLUTELY perfect when it comes to cooling, and probably for the first time in my chair review experience, the ASSEMBLY is flawless. So yes, 10 out of 9, highly recommend.
