Although Motorola is gradually improving its update policy and is already promising up to 5 years of Android support for some models, the list of devices with only three major OS updates is still quite impressive. Unfortunately, it even includes the new Edge series models and premium foldable Razr smartphones. The list of Motorola smartphones with three generations of major Android updates has been published. For your convenience, the OS version that will be the final one for each device is also indicated.

Motorola Edge 70

Motorola smartphones with three major Android OS updates:

  • Motorola Razr 2023 (Razr 40) – the latest Android 16 update
  • Motorola Razr+ 2023 (Razr 40 Ultra) – the latest Android 16 update
  • Motorola Razr 2024 (Razr 50) – latest Android 17 update
  • Motorola Razr+ 2024 (Razr 50 Ultra) – latest Android 17 update
  • Motorola Razr 2025 (Razr 60) – latest Android update 18
  • Motorola Razr+ 2025 – latest Android 18 update
  • Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 (Razr 60 Ultra) – latest Android 18 update
  • Motorola Edge 70 – latest Android update 19
  • Motorola Edge 60 – latest Android 18 update
  • Motorola Edge 60 Pro – latest Android 18 update
  • Motorola Edge 60 Fusion – latest Android 18 update
  • Motorola Edge 50 Pro – latest Android 17 update
  • Motorola Edge 50 Ultra – latest Android 17 update
  • Motorola Edge 50 Fusion – latest Android 17 update
  • Motorola Edge 40 Pro – latest Android 16 update
  • Motorola Edge 30 Ultra – latest Android 15 update
  • Motorola ThinkPhone – latest Android 16 update.

It’s rather disappointing to see new Edge models, such as the Edge 60 and Edge 70, on this list, against the backdrop of competitors offering up to 6 years of Android updates even for mid-range smartphones. At least the premium foldable Razr could have received longer software support.

ThinkPhone 25

At the same time, Motorola is showing positive dynamics. Last year, the company introduced the Edge 50 Neo with the promise of 5 Android updates, and later the Moto G75, ThinkPhone 25, and Edge 60 Neo received similar support.

Motorola Signature

In addition, earlier this year, Motorola announced up to 7 major Android updates for the Motorola Signature smartphone, effectively catching up with Google and Samsung. This is the right move, which will only have real value if it is scaled to more models. The company is also accelerating the rollout of new versions of the OS – in particular, Android 16 is already rolling out to compatible devices much faster than before.
