According to Apple’s detailed official documentation, the company is implementing daily limits on the use of Apple Foundation Models’ online features. Starting with the new major software updates, iOS 27 and macOS 27, cloud-based AI capabilities will be subject to limits. In the new documentation, the company also confirmed that these measures are being implemented to ensure stable and reliable server performance for all device owners.
The list of features subject to the new limits includes the Siri AI personal assistant, intelligent editing tools in the Photos app, the Image Playground image generator, the AFM 3 cloud models in Shortcuts, as well as third-party apps that utilize Apple’s models.
The limits will vary depending on the specific feature, the complexity of user requests, the current load on the infrastructure, system policies, and other factors – similar to the new usage limits in Gemini Notebook. Once the allocated quota is exhausted, the corresponding feature will become temporarily unavailable until the limit is reset.
Apple has not yet disclosed the exact limit parameters, as these figures may vary significantly depending on the selected app or option. It is expected that users will be able to remove these restrictions and gain expanded access for a fee through iCloud+ subscription plans; however, the company has not yet disclosed its final pricing policy.
