HBO Releases New Trailer for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: The Golden Trio Arrives at Hogwarts

A new trailer for HBO’s “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” has been released, offering a glimpse into the reimagined magical world. Dominique McLaughlin plays the lead role of Harry Potter, the 11-year-old wizard previously portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe. His best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, are played by Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton. Together, they enroll at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

In the trailer, Harry, Ron, and Hermione arrive at Hogwarts and, before the banquet, take part in the Sorting Ceremony, after which all three are sorted into Gryffindor. Harry meets the teachers and staff at Hogwarts, including Headmaster Dumbledore, Hagrid, Professors Snape and McGonagall, and attends classes in Herbology and Potions, as well as trying his hand at Quidditch. “Let’s hope you show some talent on the Quidditch field, Potter,” Severus Snape said to Harry.

In addition, we’ll see Harry, Ron, and Hermione encounter the famous mountain troll in the Hogwarts restroom, play a tense game of chess, try out the Invisibility Cloak and the Mirror of Erised, and try to solve the riddle of the Philosopher’s Stone.

The new series will be a major HBO project: the company plans to adapt all seven books by author J.K. Rowling into seven television seasons. The first season will consist of eight episodes, will cover the first book in the series, and is set to premiere at Christmas. In May, the project was renewed early for a second season.

The series will feature John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Tallon as Professor Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, and others. For many young actors, the series will be their first major project. Locks Pratt will play Draco Malfoy, Leo Early will play Seamus Finnigan, Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom, Gracie Cochrane will play Ginny Weasley, and Elijah O’Shea as Dean Thomas.
