Why Motorola makes the most romantic smartphones

-

I’m ready to argue that few of you have ever thought about which smartphone could be called romantic. It’s not exactly the metric by which we typically evaluate the latest technological innovations. But why not? A smartphone today is an extension of ourselves, and the closer spring approaches, the more we crave something warm, stylish, and original. This is where Motorola comes to the rescue, which (as it turns out) knows a thing or two about romance.

Peach Fuzz

Hardly anyone would argue that phones today are particularly distinguished by individuality. Sometimes there are interesting colors, but there’s nothing at the level of mobiles from the zero years.

Everywhere you look – it’s just a gray square. Well, that’s how it used to be. But three years ago, Motorola turned to Pantone for help, and they didn’t disappoint. The collaboration began with smartphones from the Moto G and Edge series, and last year, the razr 40 ultra and Moto G84 appeared in the most vibrant and coveted color of 2023 – Viva Magenta. The partnership of these two companies, clearly knowledgeable about design and caring for the user, was clearly set. And now, in 2024, the result of their collaboration is phones in the color Peach Fuzz, which was recently named the color of the year. According to the company, this shade of velvety peach radiates “an all-encompassing spirit that enriches the heart, mind, and body. The hue symbolizes comfort and healing, inviting you to pause and introspect with your thoughts. Also known as PANTONE 13-1023, it is said to reflect our collective yearning for peace and connection with others.

Pantone + Motorola

Motorola certainly knows the importance of color – in honor of their exclusive partnership with the Pantone Color Institute, the company conducted the first-ever survey in history. The aim was to understand customers’ preferences in Central and Eastern Europe regarding the color and material when choosing a smartphone. The research was conducted in Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, and Serbia. It turned out that the least desired color when purchasing a smartphone is white. And 47% of male respondents were interested in purchasing a phone in the shade of Viva Magenta.

33% of respondents named blue as their favorite color, stating that the color of the device is extremely important to them. Young women lead in perceiving the entire spectrum of colors and do not want to limit themselves to the traditional black-blue-green triad. Over 35% of women and 30% of men claim that the color of the device is one of the main factors for them when choosing a new gadget!

Listening to the people, Motorola rushed to create the trendiest and most romantic phone of the year. They dressed up in a new color Razr 40 Ultra and Edge 40 Neo.

We took a look at the new product with the epic name Edge 40 Neo Peach Fuzz Color Of The Year and evaluated how it looks in real life. As you can see for yourself, it looks just as good as it does in the renders.

Edge 40 Neo Peach Fuzz Color Of The YearWe’d like to remind you that the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra boasts a foldable LTPO AMOLED display. It is equipped with a dual 12-megapixel camera, an ultra-wide-angle lens with 13 megapixels with autofocus, and a wide-angle selfie camera with 32 megapixels. You can find out more about it in the review.

The Motorola Edge 40 Neo, on the other hand, stands out with a warm, contoured design finished in Peach Fuzz eco-leather. It impresses with its 6.55-inch P-OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity 7030 5G (6nm) processor, 12GB of RAM, 68W TurboPower fast charging, a capacious 5000mAh battery, and a more than adequate $340 price tag.

The new lineup demonstrates how color can deepen our interaction with technology and enhance the user experience. “As technology becomes an integral part of humanity, we rely on color as a tool for expression and creating deeper, more meaningful interactions with our devices. This applies not only to hardware but also to software,” says Ruben Castano, Head of Customer Experience and Design at Motorola. “The PANTONE 2024 Color of the Year does just that, bridging the virtual world we live in with our desire to strengthen connections and enhance well-being.”

At the same time, Lori Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, emphasizes Peach Fuzz’s ability to blend the virtual and the real. “The color of the year holds special significance for establishing connections, community, and personal well-being. [Peach Fuzz] effortlessly bridges virtual and real life, making it the perfect color for embodying digital devices physically.”

In Motorola’s approach, there’s something new that I remember from classic models like the Nokia 3200, Nokia 2300, Motorola Pebl U6/U9, or Motorola A1200 Ming.

Why? The new Motorola lineup seems to be created not to hide it in cases and pockets. Like in the past, with their help, you can express yourself. They are pleasant to look at and use. Well, at least for those for whom aesthetics is not an empty word.

We love it when technology not only works well but also becomes a topic of conversation and simply catches attention. When on a gray day in early March, you get such a smartphone – it somehow brightens things up.
