A truck on the highway represents only the visible part of a logistics operation. Use consistent definitions. A trailer reserved for a customer is not necessarily available for other loads, even if it has not moved.

Can AI Replace a Dispatcher?
A trucking company should not treat AI as an unsupervised dispatcher. Even when software suggests an assignment, a person needs to verify equipment suitability, driver availability, appointment details, and operating constraints.
Evaluate any AI feature through a narrow trial. If a system extracts information from freight documents, compare its output with the original documents and record the corrections staff must make.
If it recommends load assignments, ask what information it uses and how it handles missing or outdated records. A recommendation based on yesterday’s trailer status can create more work than it saves.
The practical test is straightforward: does the feature reduce effort while preserving accuracy and human control?
