Cubot has officially announced the launch of the KingKong ACE 5 smartphone, positioning it as an alternative to traditionally bulky rugged devices. The model combines a slimmer, rounded design with industrial-grade durability and enters the market at a comparatively low introductory price. As part of a promotional campaign tied to the global launch starting January 1, the device will be priced at $149.99 in the brand’s official AliExpress store.
Unlike most rugged smartphones, the Cubot KingKong ACE 5 features a relatively compact body with a thickness of 15.6 mm. This makes the device more comfortable to hold and noticeably more restrained in appearance compared to typical rugged models, while still remaining suitable for use in demanding environments. It is equipped with a 6.745-inch HD+ display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, providing smooth visuals during everyday use, work tasks, gaming, and media consumption.
Battery life is supported by a 10,200 mAh battery with 33 W fast charging. According to the manufacturer, this allows up to 1,250 hours of standby time and up to 75 hours of talk time. Performance is handled by the octa-core Unisoc T620 processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM, which can be virtually expanded by an additional 12 GB, and 256 GB of internal storage. This configuration is intended to provide stable operation, responsive performance, and support for multitasking.
The KingKong ACE 5 is equipped with a 48 MP main camera, a 16 MP front-facing camera, and a 2 MP macro module, allowing it to be used for everyday photography as well as during outdoor activities or field work. One distinctive feature is the ring-shaped camping light integrated around the camera module. It provides noticeably higher brightness than a standard smartphone flash while remaining a relatively unobtrusive design element.
The smartphone is certified to IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD standards, indicating resistance to water, dust, impacts, and drops. The KingKong ACE 5 runs on Android 16 and is positioned as one of the first rugged smartphones to launch with the latest version of the operating system, aiming to offer improved system smoothness and stability.
The promotional campaign marking the launch of the KingKong ACE 5 will run from January 1 to January 18 and will be available exclusively through the brand’s official AliExpress store. During this period, the smartphone can be purchased at a discounted price of $149.99, placing it among the more competitively priced options in the rugged smartphone segment. At the same time, Cubot is hosting a giveaway of five KingKong ACE 5 units on its official website.
