Tesla Robot attack on a worker, part of worker safety concerns raised against the firm

-

If you’ve not been attacked by a piece of machinery, then you won’t know the pain of a worker attacked by a Tesla Robot. This is rather shocking because the responsibility of this robot is to move materials from one place to another. While this attack occurred a few years ago, it’s now resurging as concerns over worker safety at the GigaFactory make the headlines.

According to the reports on this incident, the worker was attending to two disabled robots when an active robot attacked him. The robot pinned the worker down, inflicting wounds to his back and arm. This altercation between a worker and a robot left the worker with an open wound to his left arm after a coworker had stepped in to help rescue the one attacked.

This is just one of the many injuries that have taken place in the GigaFactory in Austin, Texas. In 2022 alone, reports claimed that one out of every 21 workers at the Austin, Texas Tesla factory sustained injuries while on the job. Now that is concerning, and some bodies are already taking this up with the tech giant.

Tesla isn’t taking worker safety into mind as it carries out its operations. With the EV manufacturing firm planning on employing more staff at its GigaFactory plant in Austin, Texas, there’s a need to improve worker safety. This will not only protect lives and keep workers away from harm at the workplace, it’ll also instil a sense of protection in the workplace.

As we step into 2024, Tesla has a lot on its plate as it struggles to compete with other EV brands. To compete and stand out, the tech giant needs to pay attention to safety details not only on its vehicles but also in its working environment. Keeping workers safe on-site should be part of Tesla’s priorities as a leading brand in its industry.
