X verification checkmark can’t be hidden due to a new update

-

If you have the habit of hiding your X verification checkmark, Elon Musk and his team seem to have a bone to pick with you. A new update coming to the X platform will now prevent you from hiding your X checkmark. You’re now expected to carry your blue checkmark with pride as you engage in posts on the X platform.

After making the blue checkmark available to X Premium subscribers, the platform made it possible for subscribers to hide their checkmarks. A ton of X Premium subscribers loved the ability to hide their checkmarks and actively made use of it on their accounts. But some changes to the platform are now shaking things up and restricting some accounts’ access to the checkmark while restricting those with the checkmark from hiding it.

X (Twitter)

Right now, X is only giving the blue checkmark to subscribers with more than 2500 followers. If you’re an X Premium subscriber with less than 2500 followers, the platform will hold back from giving you a blue checkmark. Even if you have more than 2500 followers, are an X Premium subscriber, and have the blue checkmark you won’t be able to hide your checkmark.

This is like X telling its subscribers with the blue checkmark to be proud of what they have. Our sources have reached out to X to find out the reason for this change, but the platform has yet to reply. Some X Premium users are already noticing that they can hide their X verification checkmark.

We don’t know whether this feature is here to stay or might go away soon. Whichever is the case, we’ll keep an eye out to learn the reason behind this change. This is just another weird change that is coming to the social media platform.
