YouTube picture-in-picture mode is soon becoming free globally

-

Currently, the YouTube picture-in-picture mode is limited to a handful of users who pay for the monthly premium subscription. Well, free users are now able to access this feature for usage as YouTube is already rolling it out to some. This will come as a welcomed upgrade for free users, considering how useful this feature is while streaming videos.

Over the years, picture-in-picture mode for the Google video streaming platform has been free for all to access. But about two years ago, YouTube began demanding a subscription fee to access this feature alongside a host of other features. This didn’t sit well with most users of the platform, but over the past few years, they have been living with this restriction in place.

In the US now, some users are noticing that they can access the YouTube picture-in-picture mode without a monthly subscription. Users noting this new change to YouTube have taken to social media platforms to share details on it with others. YouTube even confirmed via a reply on Twitter that the picture-in-picture mode is now available for free in the US.

Those living outside the US won’t be able to access this feature, as it’s not yet available in other regions. With access to this feature, YouTube free users will be able to watch videos even while out of the YouTube app via a floating window. This will be great for students accessing their study materials on YouTube as well as other applications.

Possibly in the coming months, YouTube will make the picture-in-picture mode available to users in other regions. But for now, only users in the US can access picture-in-picture mode without a subscription. In the coming months, will get more details on this feature and its availability for free in other regions.
