The signs are becoming more and more convincing. An Ice Universe insider has released an image of an alleged protective glass for the iPhone 18 Pro, which shows a significantly reduced notch. Its parameters coincide with the data reported by various sources since January. The Dynamic Island of the iPhone 18 Pro is getting narrower and this reduction looks tangible.
The device is expected to be unveiled in September 2026. For now, the leaks give a pretty clear picture of the changes. We are talking about reducing the width of the Dynamic Island from about 20.7 mm to 13.5 mm, which corresponds to a 35% reduction.
The published images of Ice Universe’s protective glass confirm previous leaks and indicate that accessory manufacturers are ready to launch production. This result was probably achieved by moving some Face ID components under the display, including the flood illuminator. The confirmation from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman adds additional weight to this data. At the same time, there is an alternative position, as Digital Chat Station stated in March that Dynamic Island would remain almost unchanged.
The 35% figure refers to the width, not the total cutout area. The reduction from about 20.7 mm to 13.5 mm is noticeable in everyday use. The Dynamic Island now takes up a significant portion of the top area of the screen. With a width of 13.5 mm, it will look much less intrusive and will be closer in visual perception to the standard camera hole, although it will retain the characteristic pill shape.
It’s not about Apple abandoning Dynamic Island, but about optimizing it while maintaining the functionality of the camera and Face ID. The key technical solution is the partial integration of sensors under the display, when some modules are moved under the panel, while others remain in the notch.
The role of Mark Gurman should be taken into account separately, as his confirmation significantly increases the level of trust in this information. Ice Universe also clarified that the smaller Dynamic Island may appear in the entire iPhone 18 lineup, not just the Pro versions. At this stage, all information is based on leaks. Only the official presentation in September will give the final answer.
