ARM has officially presented Neural Dawn, a new mobile game created in partnership with Sumo Digital. This project is not positioned as an ordinary consumer product for the general public. Its main mission is to serve as a technological demonstration of the potential of Arm’s upcoming Mali graphics chips on Android devices.
The development is based on Unreal Engine 5.6.1, and the release is scheduled for 2026. Only owners of Android smartphones and tablets equipped with next-generation Mali hardware graphics will have access to this project. ARM’s key aspiration is to demonstrate a large-scale technological leap in the field of mobile graphics, particularly in the areas of lighting, visualization, and neural network image processing.
ARM’s Neural Dawn technical demo reveals the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.6.1 and innovative MegaLights technology. The main feature of the project is the combination of the advanced engine with the development from Epic Games called MegaLights. This is one of the first implementations of this technology on mobile rails, which allows you to implement much more complex and sophisticated lighting systems than those used in modern smartphone games. With this solution, developers achieve a high level of direct light detail, improve global lighting behavior, and create realistic shadows based on ray tracing. Typically, such visual effects are the prerogative of gaming consoles or personal computers, but Arm aims to provide similar picture quality on portable devices with its upcoming Mali graphics solutions.

In addition to purely graphical improvements, this project focuses on improving the efficiency of the development process itself. ARM aims to prove that modern features of GPUs and game engines can radically reduce the complexity of creating premium mobile games. Instead of spending huge efforts on manual code optimization for different device models, content creators can rely on automated processes and hardware acceleration of working algorithms.
The main thesis of the project is that Neural Dawn is a purely technological demonstration, not a commercial gaming product. It is being developed by Arm in collaboration with Sumo Digital based on the Unreal Engine 5.6.1. This is the first mobile project to use MegaLights technology, with the main focus on progressive lighting and ray-traced shadows. The product is targeted at Android devices with advanced Mali graphics and demonstrates the capabilities of neurographics along with artificial intelligence-based rendering methods. The project is designed to reduce the difficulties in creating high-budget mobile games, is expected to be released in 2026, and offers a preview of the future potential of mobile GPUs.
