Google has officially confirmed the problem and is already working on fixing it, but the timing of the fix remains unknown. Owners of Pixel 6 and later smartphones based on Tensor chipsets have experienced abnormal behavior on their devices after installing the April 2026 update. Users are reporting that their gadgets are losing power much faster than before. In particular, there is a significant reduction in active screen time, a sharp drop in energy levels during the night, and noticeable heating of the cases even when the phones are just lying in a pocket or on a table. These symptoms indicate intense activity of processes in the background.

It is assumed that the cause of the problems may be too frequent waking up of the central processor when the display is off. Nevertheless, Google has not yet given specific explanations as to which software changes led to such consequences. Representatives of the company have recorded numerous requests on official support resources and in the bug tracking system. The developers are currently collecting log files from affected Pixel owners to diagnose the problem and prepare a software patch.

Although no exact timeline has been announced for the release of the fix, it is expected to be released with the next scheduled update, probably as early as May.

While Google is preparing an official solution, users experiencing overheating and rapid discharge are advised to take temporary measures. In particular, it is recommended to activate the power saving mode, enable the adaptive battery utilization function, reduce the screen refresh rate and decrease its brightness. In addition, to reduce the load on the system, it is advisable to turn off 5G by switching to Wi-Fi or 4G networks.

Experts also recommend checking the energy consumption statistics of individual programs. If an application demonstrates an abnormally high level of resource utilization, it should be uninstalled or restricted from running in the background. Since the cause of the failures can also be errors in the programs themselves, careful monitoring of their activity remains critical until an official fix is released by the system developers.
