Meta is preparing to launch testing of new premium subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The tech company noted that the new paid packages will provide access to exclusive tools focused on productivity, creative empowerment, and deeper AI integration.
In the coming months, Meta plans to offer users an enhanced premium experience across its key services. This will include special features and additional controls on how people interact and share content. At the same time, the basic functionality of the apps will remain free. The company emphasizes that it is not relying on a single format, but will test different sets of features and package options. Each app will have its own list of exclusive tools adapted to its specifics.

A separate area of subscription development will be the integration of Manus, an AI platform recently acquired by Meta for $2 billion. The company plans to actively expand its presence in its ecosystem of services. Meta is applying a two-channel model of working with Manus. On the one hand, AI will be built into the company’s products, while on the other hand, it will continue to sell separate corporate subscriptions for business clients. There are already signs of preparations for Manus integration into Instagram. Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who regularly finds features at the early stages of development, posted a screenshot with a new Manus AI shortcut in the app’s test builds.
At the same time, Meta plans to experiment with paid AI features, including Vibes video generation tools. Vibes is a short AI-based video format integrated into the Meta AI app that allows creating and remixing video content generated by algorithms. Since its launch last year, the service has remained free, but now the company is preparing a freemium access model. It includes a basic free level with the option to subscribe to monthly access to additional video creation tools.
So far, there is no detailed information on what paid features will appear on WhatsApp and Facebook. At the same time, Paluzzi reports that the test subscription for Instagram may include the creation of an unlimited number of audience lists, access to the list of users who have not subscribed back, and viewing stories in anonymous mode without notifying the author.
Importantly, new subscriptions will not be part of Meta Verified. The company notes that it will use the experience gained from launching this service to scale its own subscription model and create new offers aimed at ordinary users, content creators, and businesses.

Meta Verified was developed primarily for authors and companies. It includes a verified badge, round-the-clock support, identity protection, improved search visibility, exclusive stickers, and additional features. At the same time, most of these tools are not designed for a mass audience, so the new subscriptions should cover a much wider segment of users.
The launch of new paid tiers opens up an opportunity for Meta to significantly increase revenues. However, the company is facing the challenge of subscription fatigue, when users are reluctant to sign up for another monthly payment due to the large number of paid services on the market. To convince the audience, Meta will have to offer a truly valuable and competitive product.
Meta says it will actively engage the user community when launching new subscriptions, collect feedback, and gradually adjust the functionality as it rolls out the services in the coming months.
