Samsung Electronics has officially announced the global launch of the new EM13DX 13-inch color electronic display, expanding its Color E-Paper line. The series now includes models with diagonals of 13, 20 and 32 inches, with the largest option having been introduced last year.
The new product is targeted at business and retail scenarios and combines ultra-low power consumption with an eco-friendly phytoplankton bioresin body.
The 13-inch display is designed to be used on shelves, counters, tables and doors where paper signs are commonly used. It is close to the size of an A4 sheet and offers a resolution of 1600 × 1200 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The panel is 17.9 mm thick and weighs 0.9 kg including the battery. The device is equipped with a battery, USB Type-C port, and supports various mounting options, which allows it to be installed without a permanent connection to the power grid.
The display case is made of materials with a reduced carbon footprint. It uses 45% recycled plastic and 10% phytoplankton-based bioresin, which is confirmed by UL certification. According to Samsung, this solution reduces CO₂ emissions by more than 40% compared to standard plastic cases. The product’s packaging is also environmentally friendly and is made entirely of paper, including the main box, internal inserts, and accessory packaging.
The new Color E-Paper supports static image display with zero power consumption. Power is only consumed when content is refreshed, keeping consumption significantly lower than traditional digital signage. Content can be managed both locally through the Samsung E-Paper app for Android and iOS, and remotely through the Samsung VXT cloud platform. The platform provides tools for device setup, remote maintenance, content deployment, and color accuracy checks before publication.
Technical parameters of the 13-inch Samsung Color E-Paper EM13DX include a color electronic panel with a resolution of 1600 × 1200, advanced color processing algorithms with a visual effect close to printed paper, a compact body with a thickness of 17.9 mm and a weight of 0.9 kg. The device is battery-powered, supports USB Type-C charging, and provides zero power consumption for static images. Flexible mounting systems allow the display to be used in portable scenarios, and content management is provided through Samsung’s mobile apps and cloud infrastructure.
Samsung has confirmed that the 13-inch Color E-Paper model is already available globally. The company also plans to present a 20-inch version at ISE 2026 in Barcelona, which will take place from February 3 to 6. Information on the recommended price has not yet been disclosed.
