This year, the POCO brand expanded its F-series smartphone lineup, starting with the F7 Pro and F7 Ultra models. At the end of last month, the base F7 model was introduced. The wait was justified, as the brand not only updated the design but also included several appealing features.

It’s worth noting upfront that price isn’t listed as a standalone advantage here because all the points below really stand out when you consider that the POCO F7 is priced under $400. This makes it a well-balanced device that aims to lead in its price segment. Here’s why.
TABLE OF CONTENTS:
Battery life
Despite being the base model of the series, the POCO F7 features the largest battery capacity – 6500 mAh in the European version (while the Indian market version boasts an even larger 7550 mAh battery). This capacity surpasses not only its predecessor, the POCO F6 (which we’ve reviewed on our site), but also its higher-tier siblings. The F7 Pro comes with a 6000 mAh battery, and the F7 Ultra is equipped with a 5300 mAh unit.

This means you won’t have to worry about keeping your device charged throughout the day – this battery capacity should easily last a full day with moderate use. The manufacturer promises over 20 hours of video playback. However, if you’re playing demanding mobile games nonstop at high settings, a full charge will last roughly the duration of a flight from Chișinău to Lisbon – about five hours. While this isn’t the best battery life on the market, it’s certainly impressive within its price range.
Fast wired charging
The POCO F7 supports 90W HyperCharge, which can recharge the battery from zero to 80% in about 30 minutes. A full charge takes roughly 20 to 25 minutes longer. While wireless charging isn’t available, the phone does offer 22.5W reverse charging, allowing you to easily top up devices like a smart band, wireless earbuds, or even another smartphone.

The manufacturer states that after 1,600 charging cycles, the smartphone will retain over 80% of its battery capacity. You can check detailed battery health information in a dedicated section within the device settings.
Processor
POCO smartphones have consistently featured flagship processors, and the F7 is no exception. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8S Gen 4, built using TSMC’s 4nm process. While it’s not the Elite version found in the F7 Ultra, it still scores over 2 million points in AnTuTu – a notable figure given the phone’s price. The chipset uses a 1+3+2+2 core configuration, with the most powerful core clocked at 3.20 GHz. Compared to the previous generation, performance improves by roughly 30%, which translates to smoother operation and faster app switching. The phone can handle gaming at maximum settings, 4K video playback, and file processing without issues.

The phone’s processing power is supported by an innovative Ice Loop cooling system, which includes a large vapor chamber, alongside WildBoost Optimization 4.0 technology. This setup is especially noticeable during gaming, delivering more realistic graphics, smoother animations, responsive controls, and enhanced audio quality.
Screen
The POCO F7 features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and ultra-thin bezels, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 94.23%. The refresh rate is adjustable between 60 Hz and 120 Hz. The display has a typical brightness of 1700 nits, with a peak brightness reaching up to 3200 nits in certain areas, making it easy to view content even under direct sunlight. Additionally, the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 (marketed as Gorilla Glass 7i).

The manufacturer has also focused on eye comfort. The display holds TÜV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly features. These certifications mean the screen reduces harmful blue light, eliminates flickering, and considers users’ natural circadian rhythms, which can make long reading sessions on the phone – whether books or news – more comfortable.
Build quality
We won’t focus much on the design, as that’s largely subjective, but the build quality clearly stands out for a device in this price range. The POCO F7 features an aluminum alloy frame and a glass back panel, which the manufacturer claims can withstand bending forces up to 70 kg. The phone is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, meaning it’s fully dustproof and can survive immersion in water up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes. Additionally, it has earned a 5-star smartphone quality certification from the German testing organization TÜV SÜD.

The POCO F7 rightly positions itself as one of the best smartphones in its price segment. The manufacturer has achieved a solid balance between cost and features. While the camera system isn’t a standout highlight, it performs well for its class and includes AI-assisted functions to enhance image processing.
