Netflix is expanding its portfolio of adaptations and paying attention not only to video games but also to desktop hits. The streaming platform has acquired the rights to adapt Ticket to Ride by Asmodee. The company plans to develop the franchise in television, feature films, and other projects. The first step will be a feature film, the script for which will be written by Ben Meckler and Chris Amick. Game creator Alan Moon will join as an executive producer. This will be the first on-screen interpretation of Ticket to Ride, although no details on the plot or style have been revealed.

The original game was released over 20 years ago. It is built around a railroad theme, turn-based strategy, and route building. Since then, more than 20 million copies have been sold, and the game has been translated into more than 30 languages. It was previously adapted into a video game format.
