Ukrainian team Ageless Shooters, competing in Counter-Strike 2 and known for having an average player age of over 55, achieved a remarkable victory on the international stage. In the fifth season of the International Senior League, the team defeated Swedish squad SWG 3.0, considered one of the tournament’s main favorites. The Ukrainians secured the win in a tense overtime, finishing 16:14 on their opponents’ map.
Matches in the fifth season of the League follow a Best of 2 format: each pair of teams plays two games, one at home and one away. The home side chooses the map for the first game, while the visiting side selects the map for the second. In yesterday’s matchup, Ageless Shooters had to play on a map chosen by their Swedish opponents. Regulation time ended in a 12:12 draw, pushing the game into overtime, where the Ukrainian team showed composure and tactical flexibility to secure the win.
Throughout October, League teams will continue with weekly round-robin matches. The results of this stage will determine which teams advance to the semifinals. Viewers can follow the games and watch replays of earlier matches on the Twitch channel of M4niak, one of Ageless Shooters’ players.
In addition to their main matches, on September 20 the Ukrainian team played an exhibition game against Silver Legends, a reformed roster of their very first opponents. Matches like these provide players with extra experience outside of the regular schedule.
Ageless Shooters stand out in the esports scene. The team was formed in 2019 with support from Lenovo and the charitable foundation “Zhytielyub,” and has since become an example for others. Its players demonstrate that age is not a barrier to competing at a high professional level. Drawing on life experience and strong teamwork, they are able to find unconventional solutions and hold their own against skilled opponents from different countries.
Since 2023, Ageless Shooters have officially represented Ukraine in the International Senior League, already securing a silver medal in earlier seasons. The team currently trains under the guidance of The Champion Academy. Recently, Ageless Shooters also announced an open call for a new member. According to their statement, candidates over 50 years old who are passionate about CS2, comfortable navigating different maps, have solid aim, and are ready for intensive training are encouraged to apply. The invitation emphasizes the chance to compete at a new level.
