Gateway85 Community Improvement District (CID) proudly led the “Select Georgia: Taking Off from the U.S.–Ukraine Tech Launchpad” side event of the 2025 SelectUSA Investment Summit, held at Ukraine House in Washington, D.C. This high-profile gathering was organized by Gateway85 CID in partnership with Gwinnett County, the State of Georgia, and Ukrainian innovation leaders DroneUA and Futurology Tech, with support from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. DroneUA took a leading role in organizing, conceptualizing, preparing, and content of the event.
The meeting was attended by entrepreneurs, government officials, and the tech community from both countries to discuss opportunities for investment and partnerships. “Ukrainians are very entrepreneurial, brave and active. We love freedom, and we’re also willing to defend it. And that’s something that unites Ukrainian and Americans. And that entrepreneurial and innovation part, I think, is at the essence of it. So I think there is a big future ahead of us. And it’s, again, a testament to that”, – emphasized Ambassador Oksana Markarova.
Emory Morsberger, Executive Director of Gateway85 CID, believes that Georgia is ideal as a launching pad for Ukrainian technology in the United States: “We are building bridges between our thriving Georgia business community and Ukrainian innovators who are ready to expand. With world-class infrastructure, opportunity zones, and a strong tech base, our CID is proud to welcome these companies into our ecosystem.”
Elizabeth Schaefer, Deputy Executive Director of SelectUSA, also stated how important foreign direct investment will be in the US economy: “The Trump Administration is committed to ushering in a Golden Age for America, creating manufacturing jobs across the United States. And President Trump’s America First Investment Policy underscores the value of our economy of ensuring the United States remains the most attractive investment to foreign direct investment”.
The event featured a panel discussion where representatives from Ukraine and Georgia had the opportunity to explore the value of collaboration. Participants examined the potential for Ukrainian tech companies to enter and succeed in the U.S. market. Thanks to the strategic vision and expertise of the panellists, clear actionable steps were identified to support the long-term integration of Ukrainian technologies in the United States. DroneUA, a prominent Ukrainian company specializing in drone solutions for agriculture, energy, and emergency response, is actively pursuing expansion into the U.S. It has selected Georgia as its launchpad, operating under the Futurology Tech brand.
“Business is the perfect diplomacy. Today, Ukrainians are not just asking for help – we’re ready to invest, innovate, and contribute. Georgia offers real opportunity for building long-term partnerships, and Gateway85”, – said Valerii Iakovenko, Co-Founder of DroneUA.
Deputy Mayor for International Cooperation of the City of Lviv and Representative of Lviv Iron Tech Cluster Serhii Kiral, in turn, noted that the city has a strong potential in terms of building city-city networks: “We think that that’s the other bridge where the companies can cross and reach out to the potential partners. And that’s why since the start of the whole scale invasion we have been so active.”
For the fifth consecutive year, Ukraine is taking part in the premier investment forum SelectUSA, showcasing consistent engagement and valuable insights in key technological dialogues. The summit offers the Ukrainian tech industry an opportunity to highlight its scaling success and strengthen its position in the U.S. market.
