Motorola fans now have the chance to experience the nostalgic interface of the iconic RAZR V3 through a new Android launcher. The recently released Enhanced RetroRazr project lets users recreate the classic RAZR V3 interface on any smartphone running Android 9 or higher.
The project’s source code is openly available on GitHub in the user mhous33’s repository named “motorazr.” The launcher (APK file here) recreates the original RAZR V3 interface while making it fully functional on modern devices. Unlike the previous Retro Mode feature, available on Motorola razr foldables since 2019, which was purely visual, this new launcher scales the classic interface to any screen resolution and allows the phone to operate as a fully functional Android device.

On the 2025 RAZR Ultra series, the old Retro Mode appeared distorted and didn’t account for the new screen sizes, whereas Enhanced RetroRazr ensures proper interface scaling and even works well on standard, non-foldable smartphones.

The launcher offers full functionality, not just a nostalgic design. Its features include:
- Main menu styled after the RAZR V3
- Customization options: show or hide icons on the home screen, choose clock layouts, set skins, wallpapers, and preview wallpapers
- Screensaver and delay settings
- Ability to use the launcher as the primary Android interface
- Boot animations, sounds, and visual effects that replicate the classic RAZR V3 experience
Previously, enthusiasts could only enjoy the visual effects of Retro Mode, which didn’t allow for comfortable phone use. The new launcher replicates not just the design but full functionality, making it practical for use on modern smartphones.
A video demonstrating Enhanced RetroRazr is already circulating online. It’s quickly gaining attention and approaching 100,000 views, highlighting the launcher’s potential for everyday use.

This project marks the first time V3 nostalgia has been implemented properly – not just as a showcase or a sales gimmick, but as a fully functional tool for daily use. Enthusiasts hope Motorola will take notice, as demand for nostalgic devices remains strong. For example, the Vortex V3 sold out on Amazon within minutes earlier this year.
While the current RAZR foldable phones are considered some of the best on the market, Enhanced RetroRazr shows that nostalgia for the classic RAZR V3 still holds value and can be effectively applied on modern Android devices.
