He said that Ukraine’s leadership had requested this type of equipment to be used in the fight against Russian invasion. “Ukraine is very pleased with the performance of the previous reconnaissance drones of this type, which are being transferred by Norway… We are currently handing over 1,000 new sets to Ukraine. The drone is a good example of the value of close cooperation between government, research and industry,” Bjorn said.
The nanodrone itself weighs 32 g and is used for reconnaissance and targeting. It is in service with a number of allies, including the United States and the United Kingdom. According to Defence Minister Graham, it is easy to operate, reliable depending on the conditions, difficult to detect and particularly well suited to combat in urban areas.
“The drone is a good example of the value of close cooperation between the government, research and industry,” the minister said. Earlier, it was reported that the Norwegian government will increase the size of the military assistance fund for Ukraine in 2023 by NOK 2.5 billion (almost $240 million).
