Wargaming has reported a major milestone for World of Tanks. On September 7 at 17:00 Kyiv time, the game reached a peak of 413,399 concurrent players. The surge followed the release of Update 2.0, which for the first time in the game’s history introduced Tier XI tanks.
The update generated strong interest across the global player base. The highest activity came from the European Union, North America, the Asia-Pacific region, and China. These regions recorded peak engagement levels both through the Wargaming Game Center and on Steam.
“This milestone was only possible thanks to our community,” said Michael Broek, Publishing Director for World of Tanks in the Western region. “We’re grateful to every commander who joined the battlefield with Update 2.0. Your dedication and enthusiasm drive us to keep improving World of Tanks with every release.”
Player data reflects the high level of interest in the new content: since the update went live, more than 300,000 players have unlocked Tier XI tanks and tested them in battle. Among these, the five most popular models have already emerged:
- Taschenratte
- KR-1
- T803
- Leopard 120 Verbessert
- Hirschkäfer.
Update 2.0 also introduced a completely redesigned garage, now styled as a tank factory where vehicles are assembled, upgraded, and prepared for battle. The user interface received a refresh as well, offering a cleaner and more informative layout. In addition, a new matchmaking system was implemented, allowing teams to be formed more quickly, making battles more dynamic, and improving overall balance between sides.
The update also introduced a new Scandinavian-themed map, Nordskar, created by the World of Tanks team in Kyiv, along with a PvE event called Operation Boiling Point. Developers carried out a large-scale rebalance affecting more than 350 vehicles, giving them clearer roles and making overall gameplay more balanced.
