AMD has announced the launch of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor, the world’s first desktop solution to feature dual AMD 3D V-Cache technology. This new product is based on the progressive Zen 5 architecture and has a total cache capacity of 208 MB. The main goal of the development was to significantly accelerate professional workflows for developers and media content creators by increasing the on-chip memory capacity, minimizing latency, and increasing system throughput. The processor has already gone on sale through leading retailers and is also available as part of complete computer systems, including the flagship Alienware Area-51 desktop.

Launched in Santa Clara on April 22, 2026, Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition brings unprecedented levels of performance to home PCs. Specifically designed to handle demanding tasks, this chip combines 16 high-performance Zen 5 cores with the second generation of AMD 3D V-Cache technology, which is now integrated into both chipsets. Thanks to this approach, all cores have access to an extended cache totaling 208 MB, which provides instant system response and flexibility when working with resource-intensive content creation scenarios.
AMD’s journey of innovation began back in 2022 with the release of Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which became the world’s first processor with 3D V-Cache technology. Subsequently, the success was cemented by Ryzen 9 7950X3D, the first 16-core member of this line. In the second generation of the technology, engineers improved the design by placing layers of additional cache directly under the processor cores. This allowed for more efficient heat dissipation, high clock speeds for a long time, and improved energy efficiency. Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is the logical evolution of this heritage, offering advanced capabilities for next-generation software.

According to AMD’s Computing and Graphics Division, the introduction of the world’s first desktop processor with 3D V-Cache on both chipsets is an important step forward. A simple upgrade on the existing AM5 platform allows you to get the best performance in the world of gaming and professional creativity. The new model is powered by 16 cores with 32 threads, reaching a frequency of 5.6 GHz in Boost mode with a base clock of 4.3 GHz. TDP is 200W and the recommended retail price is set at $899.
Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is designed to radically reduce the compilation time of complex software products, large-scale simulations, and memory-critical operations. The large amount of cache allows more data to be held directly near the cores, which eliminates bottlenecks when accessing RAM and accelerates development cycles. Manufactured on a 4-nanometer process, the chip delivers consistently high speeds in demanding professional environments.
Compared to previous generation solutions, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 delivers a 5% to 8% performance boost in applications such as DaVinci Resolve and Blender. Significant improvements are also noticeable when working with huge amounts of source code, including Unreal Engine and Chromium-based projects.
