Xiaomi may present not only new smartphones at this year’s Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. Along with the expected global debut of the Xiaomi 17 series, the company is rumored to announce a major software update – HyperOS 3.1.
This doesn’t look like a regular patch. According to reports, Xiaomi is working on an “iOS Bridge” feature that should improve the interaction between the company’s devices and Apple products. HyperOS 3.1 and iOS Bridge, if rumors are to be believed, will emphasize cross-platform compatibility. The main goal is simple: to ensure that Xiaomi devices work smoothly with iPhones and other Apple gadgets.
The new system is expected to allow iPhone calls to appear on connected Xiaomi tablets or PCs, allowing you to answer or manage calls even without access to your phone. There will also be better integration with AirPods: users will be able to see the charge level and get advanced control, similar to how the headset works in the Apple ecosystem. In addition, fast wireless file sharing between iPhones and Xiaomi devices without third-party apps will be available.
If these features do come to fruition, Xiaomi will be closer to the level of cross-device experience that Apple users are used to. Until now, it has been difficult for Android manufacturers to replicate such integration at the system level. Recently, Xiaomi has relied on the philosophy of smartphones “better than the iPhone”. For example, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max resembles the iPhone 17 Pro Max but has unique features, such as a functional rear display.
Mobile World Congress traditionally serves as a large-scale platform for world premieres. The presentation of new flagships combined with a major software update seems logical.
HyperOS 3.1 is expected to debut with the Xiaomi 17 series, and new iOS Bridge features may include iPhone call notifications on Xiaomi devices, improved AirPods compatibility, and direct file sharing. Premium devices often come with the latest software, so the announcement of the update along with the new series seems quite natural.
Although this information has not been officially confirmed yet, the arrival of iOS Bridge will potentially make Xiaomi’s ecosystem more attractive to users who combine Android and Apple on a daily basis. HyperOS 3.1 promises interesting changes for compatible devices, although not all models will receive the update.
