The film adaptation of the iconic video game franchise *The Legend of Zelda* has unveiled some major casting news, revealing the actors who will play the main villain and a key heroine. Journalist Tom Power reported on the latest casting updates for the live-action film, which is being co-produced by Sony and Nintendo.

The main antagonist, Ganondorf, will be portrayed on screen by Australian actor Uli Latukefu, known for his roles in *Young Rock* and *Marco Polo*. Deadline reports that the actor has signed a multi-film deal, indicating plans to expand the cinematic universe and bring back this powerful Gerudo sorcerer in future installments should the first film be a box-office and critical success.
It has also been announced that Dichen Lachman, star of the series Severance, has been cast as the princessβs personal bodyguard, Impa. The actress was previously spotted on set alongside Bo Bragason, who was cast as Zelda in July 2025. At that time, it was also announced that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth would play Link, the main character and protector of Hyrule.
The cast has also been joined by Yvonne Strahovski from the series *The Handmaidβs Tale* and the distinguished actor Sam Neill, known for the *Jurassic Park* franchise. Sam Neill passed away in mid-July due to complications from pneumonia following a long battle with cancer, so this film will be one of his final appearances on the big screen. At this time, it has not been officially disclosed which characters these two actors will portray.
There is speculation that Strahovski will play an unnamed queen. Fans speculate that it could be Princess Zeldaβs mother, who has not previously appeared in the video games, or Queen Sonia β the co-founder of Hyrule from *The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom*. Since the first images from the project hint at inspiration from *Breath of the Wild*, the filmβs plot may incorporate elements from its sequel through flashback sequences.
As for Sam Neill, potential roles include King Rauru, Soniaβs husband, or the last monarch of Hyrule β King Roam. Other possible roles for the actor include a 100-year-old Sheikha scientist named Dr. Robbie or members of the Goron tribe, such as Daruk or Bludo.
