Apple is preparing two major updates for its users, as reported by renowned Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman. The most anticipated change in the upcoming watchOS 27 will be the adaptation of the popular Modular Ultra watch face for regular smartwatch models. Previously, this informative interface remained exclusive to Apple Watch Ultra due to the difficulty of placing a large number of elements on smaller displays.
To solve this problem, the developers decided to radically simplify the design by removing the central widgets and indicators on the bezel, but leaving the recognizable large clock and the bottom row of applications.

Along with preparations for the next year, interim versions of the systems – watchOS 26.5 and iOS 26.5 – will be released in May 2026. The main event of this update will be the release of the new annual Pride Luminance collection.

This time, Apple has moved away from the textile motifs of previous years in favor of dynamic lighting effects that mimic the play of rays in the colors of the Pride flag. Not only watches, but also smartphones and tablets will get a new visual style through updated system wallpapers.

In addition to visual innovations, the May iOS 26.5 update will bring critical technical improvements. End-to-end encryption for RCS messages will be introduced, which will significantly increase the security of correspondence between iPhone and Android device owners. Currently, the software is in the final beta testing stage, and its public launch is expected in the coming weeks, which will traditionally be accompanied by the release of new Apple branded accessories.
