Three Xiaomi smartphones received certification on the same day. Thailand’s NBTC regulatory agency has approved the global versions of the Redmi Note 17 and the all-new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. This device was not included in the lineup for the Chinese market, which was unveiled a little earlier, but it has now been confirmed that it will be released on the global market. Around the same time, Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable smartphone received certification from the Chinese regulator CMIIT under model number 2608BPX34C.
When Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 17 series in China in July, it included only two smartphones – the base Note 17 and the Note 17 Pro. There was no Pro Max version at the time, but rumors suggested it might appear on the global market. Now, an entry in the NBTC database confirms this.

According to rumors, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will feature a 7-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 32-megapixel front-facing Samsung S5KKDS camera and a 200-megapixel main Samsung HP5 camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle OmniVision camera. Under the hood will be a 9,210 mAh battery. The “2609” model prefix suggests a possible global launch in September, though this is not yet confirmed.
Typically, global models have a smaller battery capacity than their Chinese counterparts, and this also applies to the Redmi Note 17. The global version’s battery will have a capacity of 7,700 mAh, while the Chinese version’s will be 8,000 mAh.

Another interesting new product is Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable smartphone with model number 2608BPX34C. It is expected to have a wider form factor than its predecessors and will be more similar to the Galaxy Fold8. According to available information, the smartphone will feature a 7.6-inch foldable display, Xiaomi’s proprietary Xring O3 processor, and will run on Android 17 with HyperOS 4. Other specifications include a 200-megapixel main camera, a 6,000 mAh battery, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The device’s name remains unclear at this time. Possible options include the Xiaomi 17 Fold, Mix Fold 5, and Mix Fold 6. The model prefix “2608,” which aligns with the production and launch schedule for August, suggests that we may find out the answer very soon.
