Xiaomi has officially unveiled its new flagship smartphone 17 Max. Pre-orders for the new product have already started, and the official launch of retail sales in the Chinese market is scheduled for May 25. Taking into account the current government subsidies, the initial cost of the device is $594.
The published list of specifications fully justifies this price. The device has an 8000 mAh battery, a 200 megapixel main sensor, and a triple camera system created in collaboration with Leica. This model has become the most uncompromising flagship of the Chinese brand outside the Ultra line in its history.

The main technological achievement of the developers was the battery. The 8000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, based on the proprietary Silicon River technology, features a 16 percent silicon content in the anode. The record energy density of 894 Wh/l made it possible to pack this much energy into a moderate-sized body, so the phone does not feel too massive in the hands. During official tests with continuous streaming video playback on the Bilibili platform, the new device demonstrated 33.3 hours of operation with the screen on. This result allowed the device to surpass the total battery life of two fully charged iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The distribution and supply of power is controlled by the company’s own chips – the Surge P3 fast charging chip and the Surge G2 battery management controller. With support for 100-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging, the giant cell takes only 60 to 70 minutes to fully recharge, eliminating the need for users to leave their phones plugged in overnight.
The display of the novelty attracts not only with dry numbers, but also with intelligent solutions. Thanks to SuperPixel technology, the 6.9-inch panel provides visual clarity that corresponds to 2K resolution, but consumes energy at the level of 1.5K matrices. This balance was achieved by optimizing the software and the structure of the panel itself, rather than simply increasing the number of pixels. The use of the advanced M10 generation luminescent material, which is usually reserved for the most expensive OLED screens on the market, guarantees a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, which ensures perfect text readability in direct sunlight.

The front panel is protected by third-generation Dragon Crystal Glass, which is twenty times more resistant to drops than conventional glass. The LTPO matrix is capable of dynamically changing the refresh rate in the range from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. To protect users’ eyesight, safe dimming based on the DC principle is activated by default, but the owner can optionally enable PWM mode with a frequency of 2160 Hz.
In addition to the standard set of fifth-generation networks, the smartphone has a proprietary satellite communication system called Star Communications. The list of equipment is complemented by an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner integrated under the screen and dual stereo speakers. Thus, the model has all the possible top features without any compromises.

For the first time in the history of the brand’s devices, the main camera module is equipped with a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch optical sensor. The lens has a special Leica pyramidal coating with ultra-high light transmission, which minimizes internal reflections and improves the optical properties of the entire lens system. The image processing process is based on multi-frame fusion algorithms that combine multiple exposures to achieve maximum detail, wide dynamic range and high-quality night images, which cannot be achieved with high sensor resolution alone.

The telephoto lens is a periscopic design with a large 1/2-inch sensor and has a 3x optical zoom, which the manufacturer calls the golden portrait focal length. It also supports 6x zoom without loss of quality and is capable of focusing at a distance of just 15 cm. This macro feature of the telephoto lens is a rare and extremely useful option for taking detailed pictures of small objects, nature, or food without using a separate macro camera.

The hardware platform is based on the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. A three-dimensional ring cooling system with a cold pump is designed to cope with the heat generated by the powerful chip during long gaming sessions in Genshin Impact at maximum graphics settings. The manufacturer has officially confirmed that the device is able to maintain the maximum frame rate in this demanding game for 5.7 hours. This figure is the longest recorded gaming endurance test among all releases this year. The combination of the high energy efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and efficient heat dissipation with a ring pump makes these claims quite realistic. The smartphone is available in three colors: white, sky blue, and pixel black.
