The POCO F9 series has finally made its market debut, and its flagship model, the POCO F9 Ultra, is already available starting at $699 for early buyers. The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform, combined with VisionBoost D8 and WildBoost Optimization. VisionBoost D8 is responsible for features such as AI Super Resolution, Smart Frame Rate, and Game HDR in compatible scenarios, while WildBoost Optimization optimizes game scheduling, temperature management, and power consumption.
Cooling is handled by LiquidCool Technology, which combines a 6,300 mm² surface area with a 17,820 mm² graphite coating. This helps maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions.

The device features an AMOLED display with a 185 Hz refresh rate, allowing for gameplay at up to 185 FPS and ensuring fast response times. The F9 series supports native 185 FPS mode in 24 games, while select popular games can run at 165 FPS. In addition, the POCO F9 Ultra supports a touch sampling rate of up to 480 Hz with ten touch points, and the instantaneous sampling rate can reach 4,800 Hz. This can be enabled in Game Turbo mode.

Performance, a large display, and a high refresh rate require significant battery life. The POCO F9 Ultra addresses this with an 8,050 mAh silicon-carbon battery containing 16% silicon and featuring an energy density of 809 Wh/L. This battery capacity eliminates the need to reduce the screen refresh rate, graphics quality, or performance levels just to extend battery life. The smartphone supports 100-watt HyperCharge wired charging and 50-watt HyperCharge wireless charging.

The rear of the POCO F9 Ultra features a 200-MP main sensor with OIS, a 50-MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom and OIS, and a 50-MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The main camera captures more of the scene and offers greater flexibility for editing and adjusting the composition of your photos. The periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom is ideal for capturing landscapes, concerts, architectural details, and portraits from a distance.

The Sound by Bose system offers a 2.1-channel audio setup that includes two symmetrical 1115D speakers and a separate 1620 subwoofer. It delivers clearer footstep sounds in games, as well as deeper bass and a wider soundstage when watching movies or listening to music.

The POCO F9 Ultra version with 512 GB of flash storage is available at launch for $789. The large storage capacity allows users to store more games, photos, videos, and apps that they use regularly. The POCO F9 Pro was released alongside the Ultra, and this smartphone has a slightly different set of specifications.
The POCO F9 Pro features a smaller 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 185 Hz. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series (SM8850-1-AB) chip and VisionBoost D8, and has a slightly smaller battery capacity of 6,330 mAh. The battery supports 100-watt HyperCharge wired charging and 50-watt HyperCharge wireless charging.

This model features the same 200 MP main camera with OIS, but it’s accompanied by a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2.5x zoom and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Both models are equipped with a 32-MP front-facing camera. The POCO F9 Pro also supports Sound by Bose. Its starting price is $619, and the smartphone is geared more toward users who prefer a more compact form factor and a balanced configuration.
Together, the two models cater to different needs regarding smartphone size and usage scenarios within the POCO F9 series. For users who prioritize a large screen for gaming, longer battery life, photographing distant subjects, and an immersive entertainment experience, the POCO F9 Ultra offers the ideal set of features.

The POCO F9 series is now available, and a promotional period will run through September 13 – the smartphones will be available at discounted prices in celebration of the global launch. The POCO F9 Ultra starts at just $699, which is $195 less than its regular price thanks to coupons and platform-specific discounts. However, the brand recommends checking local official prices at launch and looking for available promo codes from AliExpress when making a purchase.
