Landroid Vision Cloud Review – An AI-Powered Robot Lawn Mower

Robot lawn mowers are still something of a novelty for us, even though robot vacuum cleaners have long become commonplace and surprise no one anymore. Why is that? Unfortunately, the answer is simple – robot lawn mowers are just a lot worse. There are far fewer of them, and they cost significantly more. Until recently, they were seen more as toys than as something genuinely capable of replacing human labor. That is gradually changing, but slowly. The Landroid Vision Cloud promises that the moment has arrived – and boldly claims it can do everything without any help. Today we’ll find out whether that’s true.

Positioning

Worx is bringing the Landroid Vision Cloud WR310 to market at $1,199.99 – the most affordable of the three base models in the Vision Cloud lineup, designed for plots up to a quarter acre (about 1,000 m²). Next to it sit the WR320 at $1,799.99 for half an acre and the WR340 at $2,299.99 for a full acre. In practice, the price is even lower: sometimes it goes for as little as $999.99. It’s not just about the number on the price tag, but about the device’s whole architecture: the WR310 gets by without a perimeter wire and without its own RTK antenna in the yard – correction data for satellite navigation comes straight from the Worx cloud, and a stereo camera with Vision AI builds the map of the plot itself and recognizes obstacles (at least, it’s supposed to).

Against the competition, the WR310’s positioning looks aggressive, though not the cheapest available. The Segway Navimow i110N, with the same quarter-acre coverage and the same RTK-plus-machine-vision combo, sells for less – $1,099. The NAVIMOW i110N, for plots up to ¼ acre, costs $1,099 – but the savings come with an extra installation step: the i110N’s package includes a physical GNSS antenna module that has to be anchored in the ground and connected by cable to the base station. The kit includes a GNSS antenna module and mounting hardware – exactly the kind of stake in the yard that Worx has done away with. Mammotion takes a similar approach but at a different price point: the Luba mini AWD 1500H costs $1,999, covers a bit more ground at 0.37 acres, and uses Mammotion’s own cloud RTK service, iNavi, with no physical base station. The Luba mini AWD 1500H sells for $1,649 at its regular price of $1,999. Husqvarna, the inventor of the category, plays in a different league altogether: its entry-level truly wireless model, the 420 iQ with the EPOS system, costs $3,499.99 and is built for a plot twice the size. The Automower 420 iQ covers 0.5 to 1 acre, handles slopes of up to 45%, and uses wireless satellite navigation (EPOS) for $3,499.99 – nearly three times the price of the WR310. Against this backdrop, Worx looks like a well-calculated entry ticket into the segment of mowers with no wire buried in the ground at all.

Where to buy Landroid Vision Cloud

Design

Photos don’t really convey the model’s real-world size, but in person the Landroid Vision Cloud turned out to be a lot bigger than I expected – essentially not much more compact than a regular push mower. Like other Worx devices, it’s painted in black and orange and looks like a mower styled after a McLaren. Up front is a camera that keeps watch so the robot doesn’t accidentally run over anything (or anyone).

The most prominent elements on top are a large red STOP button (take a guess what it does), the cutting-height adjustment, and the battery compartment. There’s also a modest display that lets you enter your password, plus four buttons. Still, we’ll mostly control the robot through the smartphone app.

The robot has three wheels, which gives it the nimbleness of R2-D2 from Star Wars. Two large wheels have rubber studs, while the third, smaller wheel is the one that most often gets stuck somewhere. More on that later.

I like how the Landroid Vision Cloud looks, though that’s hardly a major factor. It draws attention, and that’s probably the whole point – although personally, I think the less noticeable it is, the better. One thing is certain: be ready for your new purchase to draw the attention of the entire neighborhood.

Setup and Navigation

Setting up the robot is very simple – at least compared to previous models. It doesn’t need boundary strips to mark out the territory, although those are included too. Initial map setup can be done two ways – there’s an automatic mode and a manual one. You can use your phone as a controller and drive the robot along the boundary yourself, or you can let it handle things on its own.

The first big advantage of this model is how unfussy it is about where the base station sits. Other robots often required it to be out in the open with perfect Wi-Fi reception. Here, you can put it wherever you like, and I placed mine in a genuinely tricky spot, tucked under the porch – right next to the house, in the dark, and out of sight. It didn’t complain. Lovely.

Under ideal conditions, automatic mapping works flawlessly. But I stress – ideal. My yard is a very un-ideal set of conditions that gave the Landroid something to think about. First I tried tracing the boundaries myself, but no matter how carefully I did it, the robot kept driving over the flower beds. So I broke out the boundary strips, set them up, and then ran auto mode. That worked: the robot mapped out two lawn areas, and I manually traced a path between them so it could move from one to the other.

That was just the beginning. The real adventures came next. I needed the robot to be able to get from the two areas near the base to the sections behind the house. That’s trickier: on one side there are steps it can’t handle (R2 still has the edge on it there), and on the other, a narrow ditch along the neighbor’s fence. To get through there, it has to squeeze past a lilac bush and drive along a narrow strip of green that also needs mowing. Beyond that, there’s an even narrower path right next to a flower bed. There’s another route I also mapped for it, past the garage.

The first time, the robot made the trip with no problems. The second time, it got stuck. The third time, it got lost and called for help. By the fourth time, I realized I wasn’t going to get full autonomy out of it. I don’t think this is really a knock on the Landroid Vision Cloud specifically – my yard just turned out to be too much of a puzzle for it. Despite all the promises that it’s the first AI-powered mower, it isn’t actually capable of independent reasoning in any meaningful sense. It’s excellent at recognizing objects to steer around, but navigation is clearly where its limitations show. Other reviews praising its autonomy often feature yards that look like they’re maintained daily by a team of gardeners. Mine isn’t quite like that, and yours may not be either.

In other words, this isn’t a robot vacuum that can just handle everything on its own – at least not on complex plots split into several separate sections, like mine. I’m sure that on simpler layouts, the Landroid Vision Cloud can manage without the slightest issue. But it would be dishonest not to mention where it struggles.

For navigation, the robot uses GPS and doesn’t need an internet connection. It needs the internet for communicating with the app, where you can adjust settings and control it. Bluetooth is needed too – without it, you can’t drive the Landroid Vision Cloud manually. And yes, you can. You’ll even need to: despite doing a good job mowing overall, the robot still skipped a few spots in my yard that it apparently didn’t like – the grass around my currant bushes, for instance. I’m not sure what it didn’t like about it – maybe the low branches. But I had to finish mowing those spots myself using manual mode. I’ll admit, in those moments I found myself wishing you could hook a DualSense controller up to the robot and drive it that way. What is it, really, if not the ultimate remote-controlled car we’ve all dreamed of?

In Action

Once you’ve built the map, you can let the robot loose on its own. It can build its own schedule, taking the weather forecast and its own sensor into account. Even if the app tells it it’s sunny outside when it’s actually raining, it figures that out on its own and won’t head out – unless you force it to, of course.

I can speak to the Landroid Vision Cloud’s work quality after a bit over two weeks. They weren’t easy weeks: it rained nonstop, and the ground stayed wet the whole time. That didn’t stop the robot from mowing and leaving the lawn looking tidy, though it did lead to it getting stuck in the trickier spots.

If your lawn is close to perfect, it will handle the job fine. If not, you’ll have to accept that you’ll periodically be pulling it out of ditches and holes you didn’t even know existed. That might well push you toward making some modifications to your yard. Little ditches that swallow the wheels can be filled in. Over two weeks, I clearly identified the problem spots where the robot keeps getting stuck.

Whether all this is worth the effort is a question only you can answer. In that sense, the Landroid Vision Cloud reminds me of robot vacuums from years past, back when you had to do a bit of pre-cleaning before setting them loose. Today’s robot vacuums can fully replace a proper vacuum cleaner, but the Landroid Vision Cloud hasn’t gotten there yet. It can’t perfectly trim the grass growing right along the fence – you’ll still need a trimmer for that. It can’t push into certain spots or fight through tall grass. But it can significantly cut down the time you spend mowing. Whether that time savings is worth the money – again, that’s up to you.

The App and the Worx Ecosystem

Worx is a solid, established company that makes everything from trimmers to saws. I already own a few of their tools, which means I already have a PowerShare battery. The company’s proprietary battery is great because it works across all their devices. It’s the same battery hidden inside their full-size mowers, and it’s the same one the robot uses. That means swapping the battery takes seconds, and if you’re really in a pinch, you don’t have to wait for it to recharge – you can just pop in another one. That’s genuinely convenient and genuinely good for the customer.

One more important point: there are no subscriptions here. None. It’s almost hard to believe, but it’s true: you buy the robot and it just works. These days, that’s not just nice – it’s essential, and it immediately earns some goodwill.

As for the app, it’s decent overall. It has everything you need to control the robot, though information updates with a bit of a delay. And occasionally, controlling the robot through the phone just doesn’t work – in urgent situations, you have to go outside and press the buttons on the unit itself.

Verdict

The Landroid Vision Cloud does a great job at its core task – keeping the lawn looking presentable. It’s packed with the latest technology and is more low-maintenance than ever. Its main shortcoming is that it isn’t quite there yet when it comes to full autonomy. On complex plots (which is most of them), it tends to get lost and stuck. Beyond that, there’s little to complain about – even with its quirks, the robot significantly cut down the time I spent outside, which, given how rainy the season was (and the sheer amount of mosquitoes), felt like a genuine lifesaver.
