Bentley has officially confirmed that it plans to finally add its first fully electric vehicle to its lineup. The official unveiling of the new model will take place on September 23 in London. British luxury automaker Bentley has confirmed its long-awaited plans to expand its lineup with its first all-electric vehicle. The renowned automaker, currently owned by the Volkswagen Group, has released the first teaser image of its upcoming eco-friendly car, named Torcal.

At the same time, it was announced that the full unveiling of the vehicle is scheduled for September 23 in the British capital. Company CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser noted in an official statement that the Torcal demonstrates phenomenal performance in every key aspect and has every chance of becoming the most refined car in the automaker’s history.
In the brand’s product portfolio, the new Torcal will join the current Bentayga, Bacalar, and Batur models. The legacy of previous generations is also reflected in the name, as the car is once again named after a famous natural landmark, inspired by the unique rock formation El Torcal de Antequera in Spain. Additionally, the name contains a linguistic reference to the Latin term for “torque.” It’s worth noting that Bentley first publicly announced its intention to launch an electric SUV back in 2021.

Recently, a prototype of the future electric vehicle was spotted undergoing a series of road tests above the Arctic Circle, where cameras captured its fastback-style silhouette. This exterior is partly based on design elements from last year’s EXP 15 concept car. In addition, the electric vehicle – camouflaged with bright film – underwent high-speed testing at the Nürburgring track in Germany. Spy photos from the race track revealed elements of the interior trim, which features a combination of red leather and black Alcantara. In addition, a massive curved multimedia screen was spotted inside, flanked by traditional mechanical buttons and controls.

Bentley’s press office announced that over the coming weeks, as preparations for the September 23 festivities continue, the company will gradually reveal new details about the Torcal. The manufacturer emphasizes that despite its entirely new concept, the Torcal remains a true representative of its family, embodying the brand’s signature luxury and high performance – values that have been the company’s guiding principles since 1919.
