Hyundai has finally unveiled the standard version of its new compact electric car, the Ioniq 3. This comes after its official debut in April, which focused exclusively on the aggressive N Line sport trim. But now the South Korean automaker has revealed the version that most drivers will likely choose when they simply need to get around town in real-world conditions. In this case, the designers moved away from the race-inspired exterior and opted for a more understated and practical design.

Hyundai calls the new model the Aero Hatch, which is meant to highlight the combination of features from a traditional hatchback, a sleek fastback, and a crossover body. The designers removed the large front air intakes found on the sport version and retained smoother body lines and an active air intake system for better cooling. However, the signature lighting remains unchanged: separate LED headlights and a distinctive pattern of four light points integrated into the narrow front grille.

The standard version features side mirrors painted to match the body color and a choice of 16- to 18-inch wheels, while the N Line comes exclusively with 19-inch wheels. Changes have also been made to the rear of the car: a more compact spoiler has been placed above the dual rear window, and the rear bumper now features a subtle diffuser without any sharp aerodynamic elements.

The interior of the new Hyundai Ioniq 3 has also been updated. The manufacturer has moved away from the black-and-red color scheme found in the sport version in favor of a lighter color palette. The cabin was designed in line with a concept that emphasizes comfort through the use of high-quality materials that are pleasant to the touch. This design is intended to provide comfort and convenience for the driver and passengers during everyday trips.

The Ioniq 3 is the first Hyundai vehicle in Europe to feature the new Android-based Pleos Connect multimedia platform. This software previously debuted on the updated Grandeur executive sedan in South Korea. Depending on the trim level, buyers will be offered a central touchscreen display with a diagonal of 12.9″ or 14.6″. A compact digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is also available. The brand’s app store will initially offer 30 apps from third-party developers, but more will be added later. In addition, the Gleo AI system will handle vehicle functions via natural voice interaction.

Under the hood, the Ioniq 3 uses a 400-volt version of the E-GMP modular platform. Its “siblings,” the Kia EV3 and Kia EV4, are also built on this architecture. Engineers have tuned the chassis, suspension, and powertrain characteristics to suit European roads, driving styles, and charging infrastructure. Hyundai promises predictable vehicle behavior across various road conditions and with different charging infrastructure.

At launch, Hyundai will offer two versions, both equipped with a single electric motor. The base model will feature a 42.2 kWh battery and a 144 k.s. (108 kW) electric motor. The official range according to the European test cycle will be 344 km. For those who need greater range, a Long Range version with a 61 kWh battery will be available. It will provide a range of up to 496 km. This variant is equipped with a less powerful 133 k.s. (100 kW) electric motor, designed for maximum energy efficiency, so the car will be able to travel a greater distance, although it is unlikely to be faster than the base version during acceleration.
