The Call of Duty series is expanding its ecosystem and launching a new battle royale mode this month. On March 13, players will get free access to Black Ops Royale.
The new mode is a throwback to Blackout, the franchise’s first attempt at battle royale, which debuted in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The matches will involve 100 players who will land on the map in teams of 4. The events will take place on the large-scale Avalon map, but there will be no familiar Warzone elements.
Black Ops Royale does not have equipment sets, gulags, and trading stations. The main emphasis is on finding weapons from the recent Black Ops 7 and their subsequent modernization directly during the game.
As stated in the official announcement of the development team, Black Ops Royale will return familiar elements from the Blackout era. Among them are weapon handling features and the bullet drop system, which have been rethought to reflect the modern experience of Warzone players. In addition, the mode will offer an open perk system that allows you to flexibly customize your playstyle while referring to the classic bonus mechanics of the first Call of Duty battle royale mode.
