The Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has reported new findings, published on the War&Sanctions platform. In the special section “Components in Weapons,” data was shared on over a hundred foreign parts identified by Ukrainian research institutions in Russian drones and missiles used against Ukraine.
The list published today on the website includes samples from two Russian-made attack drones, the “Geran-2” series “Y,” the multipurpose drone “Corsair,” as well as the Kh-69 cruise missile.

The aggressor country, in its ongoing campaign of terror against civilians, continually upgrades its primary weapons systems. This primarily concerns the “Geran-2” (Shahed-136) drones. In some cases, Russia carries out these modifications with Iran’s involvement. Notably, drones with Iranian-made thermobaric warheads have been documented in use.

In addition to Iranian warheads, the new “Shaheds” are also equipped with Russian-made munitions featuring a shaped-charge core capable of penetrating reinforced shelters. Contact sensors are used to trigger these warheads.

Previously, HUR reported the emergence of a new Shahed modification from the MS series, likely manufactured in Iran. This drone was found to contain an NVIDIA Jetson Orin microcomputer, designed for AI processing and video analysis. Similar computers are also used by Russia in V2U attack drones.

In some drones, warheads have been found to include additional lethal elements in the form of metal balls. These warheads can also be detonated remotely, triggered by an optical sensor – such as a laser rangefinder or LiDAR – when approaching a target at a set distance.

In these cases, an SF20 laser rangefinder, produced by the South African company LightWare, was installed. Additionally, in August, Ukrainian specialists documented the use of “Geran-2” drones carrying extra payloads attached to external wing mounts.

As a reminder, we previously reported that Ukraine’s HUR published information on hundreds of foreign technological components used by Russia’s largest tank and armored vehicle manufacturer, Uralvagonzavod.
